There is much to be learned in this Gospel, which IMO were PURPOSELY left out of The Bible because there’s too much wisdom contained therein. 114 quotes told directly to Thomas the scribe. Not analogies, direct quotes.
The Gnostic texts were left out of the Bible because they teach that one's spiritual journey is accomplished through a direct connection to Source/God, whereas the Bible only includes books that could be adjusted to support the concept that an intermediary is required (priests and the church), thus creating a power base for turning believers into slaves.
Supposedly there was also a vote to determine whether Christ was innately divine or a man who was divinely inspired because we all have a spark of divinity as part of our very essence. The Gnostics held the latter position, but the concept of Christ being innately divine was voted into being because it further supported the concept that the rest of us can only be sinners forever striving to become worthy and therefore needful of the church's assistance.
The powers that want us all to be slaves and grist for their mill have been at it for a long time.
The 'chain of custody' theory sounds like a rationalization after the fact to me. The Bible was created in the 3rd or 4th century, and I doubt any of the books had a solid chain of custody at that point.
I don't know of any site that lists the Gnostic texts, but the book of Mary Magdalen is a text that was lost for a long time, and the church adjusted our perception of her by turning her into a prostitute.
Not true because the church said so? Have you not witnessed the evil and corruption in today's church? Do you think that is only a modern phenomenon? Why are you making fact statements about which you have zero proof?
I submitted a historical perspective that disagrees with your belief system. I could call your belief system 'misinformation', but as neither of us was around when this history was made, neither of us can say for sure what is true. I further submit that the alternative histories call all of what we believe we know into question.
I can also submit that a lot of damage has been done to multiple cultures by 'the church', starting with the so-called pagan cultures back in the 400s when 'the church' hired mercenaries to find and destroy them. If destroying another's culture isn't what a power structure does, I don't know what is. For further proof of that, all you have to do is look at what's going on today, and which we've now labeled as 'cancel culture'. Doesn't feel too good, does it?
I disagree. If the Holy Bible is read properly, you can see where Christ calls us to Him without an intermediary. It is only man who decided the Church needed to be all powerful and controlling. For example the Bible never mentions "the rapture" by name, and yet it is one of the most propagated theories of Christianity. Look up Margaret MacDonald. Jesus himself (through the shedding of His blood), is all that was required for us to be accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven. I believe the Bible is whole and complete and any other texts can be misleading.
Exactly.... I’m doubting EVERYTHING I was taught in Sunday school. It’s looking more like Jesus left the Holy Spirit in all of us. We have to connect with that spirit. Last week God sent a Dove to sit on my porch for hours.... it’s a lot to handle; what is truth. From my research it seems the Romans\ pope have deceived us for many years under the Cabal, Rothschilds and Evil. Don’t take my word..... RESEARCH. Fake Jews (revelation). Dig deep and learn for yourself.
Striving forever to become worthy? I'm a Christian because of God's grace and his Son's redemptive work on the cross. I need no intermediary. I need to do no works or acts. I only need to accept God's gift. Everything else is distracting noise.
you should read Ruth and Ezra tell me what you think..?.. I have read Thomas and Mary and some of the dead sea stuff, I am not a scholar by any means but I research ancient archeological digs and ancient structures and how they progressed.... yeah check those 2 out
The MEN who compiled The Bible didn’t always have good reasons for what they left out. A lot of it was about early Church CONTROL over the masses. There’s NOTHING wrong with seeking Truth(s)...isn’t that what we do here? It’s exactly what we do here. It’s about awakening and hopeful eventual ascension and I’ll take direct quotes from The Christ from The Bible OR from gnostic gospels. Most of the quotes in Thomas ARE IN THE BIBLE.
People used to be burned at the stake for seeking Truth(s). Claiming “falsehoods” is the same as siding with those who burned the seekers. After our awakening we have learned that THE MAJORITY of what we’ve been taught in our lives is full of corruption and falsehoods. Right? Try reading the 114 quotes in Thomas and DISCERN that yes, much of what’s there IS IN THE BIBLE. Therefore those who compiled The Bible knew about these Truth(s). This isn’t Enoch.
That's rich considering how the Gospels are chock full of pagan/mithraic, Jewish, and Greek neoplatonism ideas disguised as "Christian" storylines and symbols. If anything, the Gospel of Thomas is closer to the original teachings of Jesus and the Gospels are a corruption with a bunch of disinfo tacked on.
That comment is in reference to MAN compiling The Bible and determining those 50 or so books should be left out. The organized Church needed to control the populace. That’s what powerful men do. Haven’t you learned that yet? In no way have I denigrated the beautiful Bible. Your focusing on my Post, and my motives with it aren’t productive. If you don’t like it, fine. Downdoot the Post and move on.
Well I opened a can of worms here, eh? For all Christian “purists” let me just point a couple things out. During our Awakening what have we learned? That there’s MORE to every story. Each denomination in Christianity has the same root message. OUR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY. How enlightening is THAT? I don’t come here to slam Jews, Catholics or any Protestant denominations. Do you come here to learn or to slam others beliefs? I’m NOT stating in any way that gnostic books are THE answer. Try reading everything you can, then discern. Some of the Comments I see FEAR. As I stated in response to a few here MANY OF THE QUOTES IN THOMAS ARE IN THE BIBLE. Ok? I truly hope each and every one of us during Passover, Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter get closer to God, be Blessed and know that we’re living HISTORY...right here, right now.
Anyone subscribing to a specific denomination has their own spin. It’s truly laughable that each believes they’re the only way. That’s what I meant by “purism”. I see their immediate slams as fear-based. Our memories of who and what we truly are are erased at birth. We are all spirits of light inhabiting our meat-sacks all trying to seek that Truth. Each and every one of us is a seeker and the immediate condemnation of my Post shows that blinders are firmly in place in some. I’m hoping we all find Truths here and elsewhere. The same condemnation I see reflects, to me, as equal to what every extremist espouses. Condemnation of anything & everyone who is outside of THEIR BOX.
Those core essential Truths subscribed by the Council of Nicaea? Just saying...this in no way takes away from The Bible. Read Thomas 114 sayings and get back to me.
Not only are most of the Thomas quotes in the Bible, but the Bible version is often "lesser" in the sense of missing some key lines of the saying or parable, getting it wrong, or being garbled in some way. The Gospel of Thomas is closer to the Q Source (no Q the patriot but Quelle = theorized undiscovered source document predating the Gospels). Funny how people calling themselves red-pilled will claim a product of political disinformation is the infallible word of God.
Sorry, but Paul and other apostles specifically spoke out against Gnosticism and other heresies. Gnosticism, even Christian Gnosticism, is the doctrine of Lucifer.
The Freemasons, and many other secret societies are basically Gnostics
It’s hard to find a good definition of Gnosticism. Mostly because Gnosticism is a category of heresy and a specific type of heresy. This leads to a lot of confusion. The definition can be overly specific is applied to a particular type of Gnosticism. Or it can be too general a definition, which makes it have almost no value.
The definition of Gnosticism is a little fuzzy. But here are some telltale signs of Gnosticism:
Radical Dualism – The material is the source of all evil, and the spirit is the source of all good/divine. Often this is construed as there being two gods in conflict with one another, a good and evil one. But not always, sometimes it’s just God vs the world.
Applied to Man – Gnostics believe man is made of matter and spirit, sometimes referred to as body and soul. Because of this man has access to the divine through the spiritual or through knowledge. Furthermore, man is part evil because he has a body.
Salvation – Salvation is obtained by gaining or achieving the right knowledge(gnosis) or enlightenment. This knowledge is enlightening that allows one to transcend from the material world into the spiritual world. Eventually reaching the point of being in communion with God.
Gurus/Redeemers – There will be people who claim to have such knowledge, and can pass that knowledge to you. And therefore save you. Usually for a price.
It should be pointed out that not all dualism is Gnostic. But all Gnosticism is dualistic.
Also, it’s very easy to mistakenly think of Christianity as gnostic. For example, Satan and God are in conflict. God teaches us to not be of this world, therefore the material is evil and the product of satan. The only way to be saved is by truly knowing God. This is very false and but you can see how someone with an immature understanding of Christianity could come to believe something like this.
With this framework of Gnosticism, it’s startling to realize how much of our current world is gnostic. Pretty much every major cult movement is gnostic or has gnostic elements. The New Age movement has gnostic elements.
Star Wars is probably the most famous gnostic work. The light-side of the force vs the dark side of the force. The Jedi masters who help young Jedi’s understand the force. The dark side of the force emphasizes material power, while the light-side practices asceticism. Yoda may be the most influential Gnostic in history.
Why It’s A Heresy
Gnosticism is a heresy on many levels.
First, matter or the material is not evil. It is true that the Bible focuses on the sins of the flesh and not be concerned with the problems of this world. However, God did give us a body and it is a temple. Often an over-emphasis on asceticism can lead to gnostic thinking.
Second, there is one God and he is all-powerful. He is not in conflict with evil or fighting evil. He allows evil to exist.
Third, salvation is not determined by knowledge or a certain level of enlightenment. The doctrine of faith and works contradicts Gnosticism. If knowledge were the key to salvation then there would be no need to do works of charity.
Fourth, We already have Jesus. Anyone claiming to have the knowledge of salvation that is in conflict with Jesus as a gnostic would be is a false profit. A good tree does not bear bad fruit. Judge these gurus by their fruit.
There are many more reasons. Most are specific to the brand of Gnosticism, but these four reasons should get you started in understanding why it is a heresy.
Gnosticism Is An Old Heresy
While it seems like Gnosticism or elements of Gnosticism are everywhere in modern society, Gnosticism actually is one of the oldest if not the oldest heresy. There are several references to Gnosticism in the new testament:
20 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid profane babbling and the absurdities of so-called knowledge. 21 By professing it, some people have deviated from the faith.
(1 Timothy 6:20-21)
There is even some evidence to suggest that Gnosticism started as a Jewish heresy and that it pre-dates Jesus.
Perhaps the most famous form of Gnosticism is Manichaeism. Manichaeism started in Persia in the 3rd century AD. It quickly spread all the way from China to the Roman Empire.
The most famous Manichaeist was none other than The Church Father St. Augustine of Hippo. He writes extensively about his time as a Manichaeist and his eventual conversion to Christianity.
Yeah Augustine was so enlightened. It was he who with the pope destroyed Manichaeism because the local Manichaeist clergy wouldn’t name him as it’s leader. Again, you are learned but keep in mind the gospel of Thomas wasn’t discovered until 1945.
First, matter or the material is not evil. It is true that the Bible focuses on the sins of the flesh and not be concerned with the problems of this world. However, God did give us a body and it is a temple. Often an over-emphasis on asceticism can lead to gnostic thinking.

This is a non-canonical book, which means the Church did not accept it as true. You can read it, of course, but it does not mesh with the rest of the Gospels. It sounds kind of contemporary to me. I can't imagine Jesus saying "they will be disturbed." Can you? Why would you marvel if you are disturbed? And how would marveling lead you to reign over all. And, did Jesus promote "reigning over all"? He promoted serving all.
It doesn't 100% mesh with the Gospels because the Gospels were the beginning of the Great Apostasy, the turning away of Christianity from the original teachings of Christ.
Agreed. Yeah I grew up around liberal New Englanders and until I left did I realize not everyone is a toxic-avenger (Tick reference). Also know that many pagan beliefs and Holidays have been interwoven into Christianity. Yes. It wasn’t Jesus’ plan for that to happen. He died to save us and his teachings brought us closer to the light of Truth. Take a look at what man has done to Christmas and Easter?!! Pure blasphemy just as the Illuminati intended. To water down the Truth.
I only spent a few months in Saudi, but it was long enough to know that most Saudi's are full of shit.
The plane journey alone opened my eyes to that, especially the one back to the UK. All the women went to the loo in a Burka and came back wearing what amounted to a hookers outfit, and the guys got totally pissed.
My wife used to work for a Saudi firm in the London and they once tried to get her to get them a prostitute, they also used to ask for ham on their pizza's (whispered only of course).
Not all, obviously, but most of the ones I met were total hypocrites.
Dude...I know. Moon-worshiiping pagans. I met some good ones too. In my global travels I’ve found good and bad people EVERYWHERE. Some of my best times were hanging out with my British Aerospace friends we met there ?? -Cheers mate!!!
I’m going to end this debate right here. If the Council of Nicaea left Thomas’ gospel out of the Bible because it was “gnostic heresy”, then they must have had a copy in the 4th Century, right?

What is controlled opposition?
Who wrote the old testament?
Does the bible laud King Solomon?
Who else lauds King Solomon?
Who wrote the bible? Over what time period? Who else wrote stories of the same events?
What sources determined the current bible is canon?
What source tells you "the bible is complete"?
Does the self-completeness of faith promote genuine inquiry?
What entities do the Luciferians infiltrate today?
Does the amount of truth they tell, or goodness they promote prevent Luciferian influence?
Could a light touch on good be helpful for evil ends?
Who really wrote the bible as it exists today?
What is controlled opposition?

Thie site I posted, if you go to the root, lists others. I like Phillip too ??
I agree completely. Everything is worth a look and the purists are reflecting FEAR.
The gospel of Thomas wasn’t discovered until 1945, so how could they include it?
Not “clearly”. Seriously? It was buried in the desert in urns.
I disagree. If the Holy Bible is read properly, you can see where Christ calls us to Him without an intermediary. It is only man who decided the Church needed to be all powerful and controlling. I’m happy for your protestations.
The Gnostic Christians were persecuted into extinction after Rome took over the Church. That should tell you all you need to know.
We can’t have the plebes think for themselves, now can we?!!

So then what does the gospel of Thomas have to do with this?

Lastly, re-read my Post. “Those who seek should not stop seeking”. Oooohhh, how heretical!!! Gimme a break.
Anyone subscribing to a specific denomination has their own spin. It’s truly laughable that each believes they’re the only way. That’s what I meant by “purism”. Awesome Brother!!! Have a great Holy week!!! God Bless Us ALL?! ??
If that's what you want to call the rejection of heresy, so be it, you little rebel.
You know what God did with the first rebel, right?
Defending your beliefs with nastyness. Lovely.
If you don’t like it, move on dot org.
I think I'll stay here and correct any other heretical ideas you try to sow amongst the people.

I missed the part where the Bible goes over luck.
