I vaguely remember people saying it was something like "Better than chrome but still has some important flaws" or something to that effect. Completely forgot the specifics though lol =/
Chrome has proprietary google code, chromium does not. There was a pretty big zero day exploit for awhile some years ago. The fork by Comodo called Dragon never fixed that exploit in a timely manner even though that should have been their #1 fcking job!
Brave's adblocker never worked right for me. I use chromium and firefox. I only use chromium for Google and Youtube. It helps to isolate your presence on the net as much as possible.
Obfuscated C is just that: obfuscated. Not unreadable. The shit is not unreadable, just difficult. Work with some people who code badly and you can learn to read it.
A switch has silently been flipped in millions of instances of Google Chrome: those browsers will begin sorting their users into groups based on behavior, then sharing group labels with third-party trackers and advertisers around the web. A random set of users have been selected for the trial, and they can currently only opt out by disabling third-party cookies.
Soon you can identify another person's "Chrome Group" and decide whether you want to hug them or punch them
This reminds me of the issues that Patrick Ryan highlighted in his post on the Butterfly Affect. That basically, they are participating in civil rights violations.
Alrighty. So Chrome users will be sorted into user groups based on their online behavior. And at least for now, the cookies are still tracking users as well, so all that data is being married into one big happy data file.
Who here really believes that info will not be used to target wrong-thinkers at some point? This is scary stuff and we should be paying attention...and WE SHOULD NOT BE USING CHROME!
Friends dont let friends use google - dont use their websites, their software.
Not only are these objectively inferior, your actions, clicks, history etc being tracked and leveraged to attack your interests is a profound deal breaker even if it had some level of quality.
I sometimes use Chrome on mobile and it's scary. I can look for something (like for example a bike) and then I have bike selling ads on Instagram and Facebook on mobile (work purposes use of these platforms)... Same with chatting with someone on Facebook. :(
I heard BRAVE use connected to Chrome. does anyone know for sure? I use DDG but now I'm hearing the have connections to google or Bing? I'm not ready to go the Linx route so what to do????
Hmm.. I do... I mean, I have Chrome open and inside of it, if that makes sense, I use DuckDuckGo. Still not good, huh? Well, damn, I don’t know what to do and use anymore.

It's a fork. It's based on chromium but has long since diverged.
Are there any good Firefox forks, just in case Brave is subject to this bullshit.
Waterfox
Try Basilisk
SeaMonkey is the foss version

Never had a problem with the speed, I just had horrible control over what I wanted and didn't want displayed. uBlock Origin works better.
And also get a few bucks in BAT every month as you browse on Brave
i just assume all browsers/operating systems are compromised by ds
They aren't. Open source projects are legitimately anti ds.
If you know code you can read the source code and see if there is any malate in the tech.
nsa has been recruiting people from the obfuscated c contest for decades now
Obfuscated C is just that: obfuscated. Not unreadable. The shit is not unreadable, just difficult. Work with some people who code badly and you can learn to read it.
And even if you audited every line of every program you use, good luck making sense of all the code for the compiler.
So negative.
It wouldn't be the first time I worked through crap code, and won't be the last.
Nobody said the job would be easy. But being a consistent debbie downer on the subject isn't making an argument for if its possible or not.
and with Brave, if you don't mine having your data tracked, you can OPT into being compensated for the ads you see. They pay you in BAT crypto
Soon you can identify another person's "Chrome Group" and decide whether you want to hug them or punch them
Pedochrome :)
Adreno + Chrome. They do it so blatantly.
Lucifer + ase.

I fucking hate Google with a passion. Do no evil my ass...
Interesting stuff, thanks. I need to read it slowly tomorrow. Right now we got a war to watch!
Who in their right mind would use Google services, or Chrome, or Android. Gaaaaah!
Yes, there are other shameless violators of privacy out there, but Google?!? FFS. Just get as far away from them, as fast as you can, folks.
What do you recommend as alternative to Android?
Apple is also woke as a joke, but if you care about privacy, they are miles better than Google.
Linux phones
Glad I don’t use Chrome anymore.
Here is what I know: switch to Brave, and duckduck.go.
Have not used Chrome for years.

Bromite on Android, get it from F-Droid. Chrome but without any of the Google.
On Windows/Mac, use ungoogled Chromium. It's Chrome but without any of the syncing mechanisms and you can still use add-ons.
Get ready for a million MyPillow ads and nothing else
Friends dont let friends use google - dont use their websites, their software.

I have a ton of adblockers. Do your worst.

Been off Chrome a while now. Using D.D.G.
You are correct and I misspoke. Thank you for bringing that to my attention
I switched to Brave last year, no ragrets.
Hmm.. I do... I mean, I have Chrome open and inside of it, if that makes sense, I use DuckDuckGo. Still not good, huh? Well, damn, I don’t know what to do and use anymore.
Use a VPN that has an Adblocking DNS feature. It makes their targeted ads completely useless.
