I despise pompous jagoffs like that ... they read "I fucking love science" and they're scientists (is that still around?). They read some spew from a doctor in a New York Times article and they are medical experts. The number of people that I know that "fucking love science" yet can barely add single digits let alone calculate a derivative or integral of a function is ridiculous (i.e. they'll believe anything they read on those kinds of sites ... and they're all fucking morons).
If you confront people like this with any set of facts, even the peer reviewed ones that they cherish, that question or outright disprove their bullshit claims, they'll say that they only trust "experts". These experts are ALWAYS liberal journalist approved experts. They will refuse to look at source data or facts presented by someone just as qualified (or MORE qualified) and never want to think for themselves.
The scarier thing is that I know otherwise intelligent people that close themselves off from anything but liberal approved outlets. They are NOT dumb people. That's making me think that they're OK with all of this garbage going on in the world and that they're pro-communist revolution.
WHEN the shit starts hitting the Democrat fan, I will know where they ultimately stand if they start spreading shitty conspiracy theories and the like. One of only two liberal friends of mine has an ugly fucking wife that tows the party line daily ... if she is in on it (and she comes from a rich, New England family), she'll be the first to spread bullshit. That'll tell me all I need to know about them.

These types really are the worst. We need a specific word for these people. And it needs to be something new, so it grabs people's attention. It's not just that these people think that they know everything, it's that they think they can know everything via Scientism/empiricism/trusting experts. It's really revolting, I find it demeaning, as if everything about the universe can be perfectly quantified and understood in a laboratory. It just feels disrespectful, there's no mysticism, just sterile meaningless facts. Lots of these people are indeed really smart and at the same time so... depressingly shallow.

A mass amount of downvotes in a short time means you hit a nerve with the truth they can’t deny. They will just personally attack you and deflect. Stay as long as you can and be a voice of reason.

Just one tip I forgot to mention. They have a absurd filter that hides your comment if you mention any of what I imagine are a shit load of words and phrases that are harmless but censored there for whatever stupid reason.
If you make a comment and log out and can’t see it, it’s hidden and you have to delete it and remake it without the word or phrase that got your comment hidden.
They will declare that elections have been irretrievably compromised and that the legislature or maybe just the governor alone will decide how the state's electoral votes will be awarded

The sad fact is that they can be neck-high in academic research and still not see the forest for the trees. Academic research is mostly bought and paid for by parties disinterested in the well-being of common man.
