I had a cell therapy (called CAR-T) for cancer last fall. Because the therapy is known to produce a spike, they did a detailed work up of neurological and cardio-vascular functions in order to track spike effects. They knew this would come. It did and was not pleasant, But the medical team managed the issues. They know then both that the spike was a high likelihood event and they know how to mitigate it. The "surprise" here doesn't seem to me to make sense.
I don't know the answer to your question which is really are these the same? CAR-T therapy harvests T-cells from the blood, inserts a genetic sequence into the T-cell that looks for a specific protein on the surface of the cancer cell and that carries a virus with it. The modified T-cell attack the cancer cell and compromises the cell membrane, then inserts the virus as a "kill mechanism" to destroy the cancer cell. The cytokine storm (spike) that comes with it in most treatments causes headaches and severe confusion, loss of balance (fall risk) as well as cardiac abnormalities and some (only a little for me) respiratory compromise. I did have blood clots at the site of a catheter insertion. I believe there are also less frequent issues including eyes, but I'm not sure and I didn't have any problem with vision. With the mitigation strategy employed, most of this is transitory (< 6 months) and I'm on a self imposed and self directed rehab program to rebuild strength and endurance.
This is why I'm confused but find the research statement to be curious.

At the end of the day, the fact that the vaccines cause heart inflammation and blood clots is the important takeaway. In Byram Bridle's interviews he has acknowledged that the spike protein getting into the blood circulation was something he was previously concerned about, so again, the terminology he has used to get this into the news isn't important. What is important is that what was already known/suspected is now becoming more widely known.
The 'surprise' isn't that the spike protein is toxic. They already knew that. The surprise is that they thought (or hoped) the spike protein would remain in the shoulder area where the vaccine was given. They now know that it enters the blood and circulates around the body.
They should have verified this before millions of people were used as guinea pigs.
Because lots of doctors are the smart idiots that let their parents force them into it because it was a well paying career. They were blindly obedient before they even entered medical school.
not knowing the spike protein was a toxin, why didn't they just inject that as a vaccine instead of the mRNA to manufacture it? At least then the body could rid itself of the toxin, whereas with mRNA they will continually manufacture it.
So instead of directly injecting the poison into us, which would cause immediate damage, let's instead teach our bodies how to create that poison inside of us, so we can damage ourselves over time. Yay!

Right. But there was no animal study, as in a finished report of results. The testing was just swept under the rug, and then they asked for human volunteers (who are not aware that they are volunteers).
We didn't know??? Pretty lame. They should have done the animal testing and then no one would ever have had to suffer as they have been and will be suffering. A crime against humanity.

in the new study which is referenced, they only show that the spike protein is detectable in the bloodstream much longer than initially expected. the study doesn't talk about the spike protein being a toxin - if anyone knows of a study like that, it would be good to link here
