Pretty much every elderly person I know or have known, has experienced some serious cognitive decline and even dementia starting in their 70s... it's like the last 10-20 years of our lives are spent helpless and semi-coherent, it's very sad. (I'm sure all the various toxins in our foods and environment, as well our sedentary lifestyles, are a large part of it)
I'd be fine trading longevity for mental clarity – I don't need to live to 120 or 150; I'm ok just living into my "expected" 80s or maybe 90s, if I can keep at least the mental lucidity, stamina and coordination of someone in their 50s or 60s.
For a long time, I've always felt the government already have the cure for all cancer and such but they wanted people to go through the painstaking process of chemotherapy and whatever else to slow down the process of dying and decaying.

Rapamycin is now marketed as a "hormone booster" drug or something like that, and it's somewhat illegal and you would need to find a doctor who believes in it. One doctor said he was taking it and all of a sudden he felt like he's 25 years old, when his actual age is 75.
