Well, there are some who will put everyone who has a spiral in the same group as those who are pedophiles. It's like saying all white people are racist. There is no evidence to these claims, but there are people who will blindly repeat them.

It's the style and context used, for me. The spiral is insignificant to a pepper, for one, as another anon commented below. Secondly, it's often the style of the swirl. The pedo one is usually in blue/triangle and/or circular, counter-clockwise, with funky ridgy lines as above.

They may still be pedos, but simply using any kind of spiral is not enough to base a decision off of. Just my two cents. I may be wrong.
