He is redeeming himself in his old age. Syd Barrett was the real founder of Pink Floyd, Roger just took the credit for everything and was generally disliked.

Not untrue, but I have noticed, but musicians are kind of funny (real ones, not pre-packaged Disney crap). They can be very left, but a lot of them have a seething hatred for big tech because they have been royally screwed over by streaming.

Of course Dave G is a fraud, always was slimy. They all were except Syd; he was the only one in the band who didn't care about $£$ or fame, only the music. Part of the reason he was pushed out.
I agree with all of the sentiment here ... but as a 35 year Floydphile, I can tell you Sid Barret (genius in his own right) went off the deep end. He truly did. RW loved him like a brother, but Sid went off the deep end, and RW, NM, RW had no real options when it came to Sid Barrett. He was coo-coo for cocoa puffs. He holed up and lived with his mother the rest of his adult life. Tragic. Truly tragic.
Did you know him? Doubt it. He was surrounded by leeches and sycophants and was too nice to tell them to Foxtrot Oscar. His weakness / sensitivity was known by the others (I'll leave it at that). I was too young to see it at the time but looking back its clear he was given what we know today as handlers, who made sure he went over the edge. Those who tried to get him back into playing didn't know what they were up against; their effort were sabotaged in a cruel way and that was what pushed him over the edge - the total betrayal of people he trusted and thought were his friends. At heart he was an innocent, sweet guy who never had a bad word for anyone. A butterfly crushed on the wheel of ambition and greed. As for RW: one should not speak badly of others so I will be silent.

Except Syd Barrett was around when no one cared. Sure that was their start and all, young talent and all, and he was touched one allegedly ... but anything you hear today by them (all the hits) and Syd Barret was long gone before then.

Although I view Waters as a selfish and pompous ass hat who ultimately caused all of the problems that led to Pink Floyds demise (at least with the classic lineup), I must say he has gone up a few respect points in my book for doing this.
