I'm a face painter. I remember, one time, a daughter wanted her dad to get a rainbow on his cheek. He was a bit hesitant and I could tell it was because it could be interpreted as a gay symbol. I told him, "nobody owns the rainbow". After that he went ahead and got the rainbow.

I remember back in the 70s we had rainbows everywhere and they we were just rainbows. one of my favorite jumpsuits was rainbow striped with flared legs. I was 10 and thought is was so pretty.
