Keeping with that thought, According to the bible we are approaching the 6000 year delta of the date of creation. God created all things in 6 days and on the 7th He rested.
2 Peter 3:8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+peter+3%3A8&version=NIV
6 days of creation = 6 thousand years. 1 day of rest = Revelation 20. Satan is locked away for 1000 years to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation%2020&version=NIV Just something to consider.
Six days of creation and 1 day of rest = 7 thousand years
Thank you for this.
🤯
Furthermore, see Genesis 2. Verse 4 starts a new section of the original Hebrew. So the "account" pertains to what follows instead of what proceeds.
If you look closely, man was created on the 3rd day of creation. Why? Because Man was alone when created and God then created the animals and birds trying to find a suitable helper. God created Man on the day he created the heavens and the earth, the third day.
Please,...no.
The age of the earth is not in dispute, it's 4.5 billion years.
Render unto science those things that are science.
There’s a gap theory.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
(billions of years go by)
Gen 1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
This theory undermines the foundation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
God created everything in creation week, and he called it "very good." Adam and Eve lived in paradise, there was no death and no disease. Adam and Eve could literally walk with God and converse with him. Then Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit. Death, disease, and thorns entered the world, and mankind was forced to work to survive. Descendants of Adam (aka everyone) inherit his sin nature and as a result the default state of man is to live in sin. Jesus came along to save mankind by paying the penalty we all deserve, and if you accept his salvation and believe in his resurrection then you enter into eternal life with God.
Old Earth is fake news. To believe in old Earth means death and disease existed before mankind. That's backwards from what the Bible plainly states. Creation cannot be "very good" with death and disease running rampant. And if Adam & Eve were going to die anyway, then their act of eating the forbidden fruit made no consequence. And Jesus' work on the cross is without meaning.
The final redpill is the realization that God is real, and the Bible is true. Don't believe the fake news about old Earth and evolution. It's a lie to encourage you to sin and be proud of your sin.
See these people for a scientific rebuttal to the fake news of old earth https://answersingenesis.org/
No it doesn’t. The age of the earth has nothing to do with Christ’s Message. No matter how old or you g the earth is, the Gospel will always be the Gospel.
Analysis of the Bible provides an answer for everything.
-not in dispute -science
Pick one.
I knew as soon as I wrote it someone would do this :)
My statement is that the age of the earth is not currently in dispute. The science part of that is that it's still WIDE OPEN to being in dispute. If someone wants to challenge the carbon dating methodology that has been replicated countless times with the same result, it's OPEN to debate.
The non-science attitude would be to say "Nope, age of the earth is SETTLED at 4.5 billion years, and there is no possibility of questioning it, thanks to the CONSENSUS. So, no debate is possible." THAT would be bullshit.
All it would take is one scientist to challenge the carbon dating, bring the scientific proof, defend it, have his thing replicated by a number of other scientists...then we'll change and stop saying 4.5 billion years.
Yeah and the universe is 13.8 billion years old. Astronomy in college was fun.
Doh
That's what I meant to say
Yes, the age of the earth actually is in dispute. It's not 4.5 billion years. Every year, "scientists" come up with a totally new number. Their "science" is circular reasoning.
Sauce?
Here are just two sources that give different numbers:
https://www.nps.gov/subjects/geology/age-of-the-earth.htm
https://www.nationalgeographic.org/topics/resource-library-age-earth/
There are lots more. Just Google it. I'm not going to list thousands of Google hits here for you.
Please explain to us the methods of carbon and radiometric dating and how there is absolutely no evidence that these methods may be faulty.
LOL
That isn't scientific debate. It reads like a bluehair twitpost tapped out on an iPhone between sips of a soy latte.
Here's what scientific debate actually looks like:
If you believe the methods are faulty, as you imply, then here's what you need to do: Bring the evidence of it. Show your materials and methods, demonstrate how you proved your hypothesis that current methods are faulty, write a cogent article worthy of publication in a refereed scientific journal that explains your conclusions, and invite other scientists to replicate your findings. IF and only if they do, then your new number for the age of the earth may be taken seriously.
Get busy! :)
It was largely rhetorical. Anyone who has a modicum of true science in them knows all about the dating methods and the problems associated with them. Your statement that the age of the earth not being in dispute reveals that your are neither a scientist nor a person that understands what science is all about. Very, very and I stress very few things are undisputed.
