It is! What they are saying is a blatant lie! Health Inspectors are prohibited from asking what “medical condition” people have if they require a special accommodation or have a service animal in a business.
Exactly the question to ask. These people are just stating what they HOPE is true. I believe the language in HIPAA is quite clear and it's also my understanding that this was a law passed by Congress. So I don't believe (not a lawyer) that even a gov't organization can change this without congressional action.
I would not enter any business that required my medical history. It is a violation of my privacy. It doesn't matter to me if it isn't illegal, I will never patronize that establishment every again. Even after this is all done, I would never give them my business. Ignorance is no defense, violating my rights will not be forgotten nor forgiven.

Basically it says your doctor & insurance company can’t share your medical records without your consent. It doesn’t prohibit anyone from ASKING for your medical information, or refusing to serve you if you don’t answer or won’t provide proof. Some state statutes do what folks wish HIPAA did, but HIPAA doesn’t.
I was booked in for some clay shooting training, but because Insaid I was exempt from wearing a mask they decided they needed to know my vaccine status. I didn't want to discuss my personal medical history and said so.
Initially they apologised for asking and I was booked in, but today I got an email from the director of the company saying they were cancelling my booking 'for the safety of their staff'.

Right, I just don't get why they refuse to look at both sides of issues. I have always tried to weigh the facts and see if the narrative makes sense. Labels like provax and anti vax are misleading. Of course, I got all my mandatory vaccines for school. That was before I realized I needed to question the medical establishment. Waking up has been a period of cognitive dissonance that is forcing me to learn to distinguish between facts and feelings on many issues....including abortion. Taking the phrase my body my choice and boiling it down to what is morally right and wrong and looking for the point where it is hypocritical to use the phrase for one side or the other to use it. Just needed a rant. Thank you.
