But, on the other hand:
Proverbs 24:11-12 (esv)
Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. 12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?
Salient point. Jesus said that in the final judgment many will be rejected not because of what they did, but because of what they decided not to do.
I do support the president, just not the one who was put on TV by the people who stole the election.
Our country is unique because at its very foundation is the premise that we as citizens should take over if our government is out of line. There is also the point that many tell us what to do who aren't actually our authority. The constitution and its amendments are the documents for our rule of law, and any laws which conflict with those ideals are null. Also, one way that we effect positive change in our society is by quietly disobeying when it goes against our conscience.
I am not sure what you are trying to say? Do you think that because the media declared biden the winner that somehow he is in authority?
He's saying that the absurd argument that Christians make to relieve themselves of responsibility is faulty. "Christians are told to submit to ruler" gives them a free pass to not concern themselves with the hardships of others. Rather than standing against this oncoming threat, churches are putting their heads in the sand. This verse is a perfect example of the Bible showing that "caring for widows and orphans" is at the heart of the matter - take care of those who are in harms way.
I am a Christian. Still I know exactly what the bible is talking about when it says submit to rulers. Rulers must submit to God and then the people must submit to the rulers.
1 Samuel 8 talks about the people wanting a King they no longer wanted God as their king. they were warned what would happen. That same thing applies now. the people do not want God as their king. (Please, do not confuse that with religion as king)
1 Samuel 8 8 When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as Israel’s leaders.[a] 2 The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. 3 But his sons did not follow his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.
4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead[b] us, such as all the other nations have.”
6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”
10 Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”
19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”
Its refreshing to see this. We left our church recently because the leadership took a stance that we should follow government orders no matter what.
Bidan is not a leadwr
These people only have authority if they are fairly elected and obey God.
Neither apply to our current state of leadership.
That's a pretty fucked up command.
So follow someone just because they're in a position of authority over you? Fuck that.
I remember when in school this was discussed. A comparison was made (which is relevant today) if you are a nurse, your doctor is your boss. He has authority over you. But if he tells you to kill a patient, you cannot follow his orders.
God's laws are above man's laws.
Since the Dem party kicked out all mention of God years ago and promote Godless laws I cannot accept them as complete authority.
A leaders authority comes from YOU. If you did not authorize it he is not your leader.
George Washington would've been wading through bodies by now.
Illegitimate leaders. Not the same thing...
This is a really good listen. https://youtu.be/CMkaKfDf_8g What would Bonhoeffer do?
At times like this, I've had a problem with Romans 13:1.... New International Version.... "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Followed by vs 2...."Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." I've been taught to believe A/...ALL authority is God placed (even the evil ones), and B/...to fight that authority is to go against God.
God speaks to your heart just as clearly as he does a "leader".If not, then your personal"choice"to accept Christ is false.Christians in America sat on their hands through the abortion of millions of innocents. Is that following God??
