The owners are owed reparations? Wow, the left is going to have a big collective stroke.
It's a rhetorical argument, that demonstrates how silly reparations really are. Also, he goes into detail, saying that the lack of reparations was one of the reasons there was a civil war, which makes sense. Furthermore, he states that the real problem facing black Americans is the lack of a father in their homes. This is due to that lovely war on drugs, that went after the little guys, not the government that was importing the stuff by the plane load.
Yes, every country other than the US was able to avoid a civil war by reimbursing their slave holders some part of their costs.
Or the fact that the current resident of the White House was co-author of the bill for the war on drugs. No one brings up THAT little tidbit of information.
What about the fact that the cities with the worst crime rates in the country are 1) run by democrats, and 2) have the strictest gun laws (Baltimore, Chicago, NYC, LA, etc).
All good points. Dems making a mess, for decades.
Did the 40 acres and a mule (given to slaves)not count?
Is he trying to troll like Trump? Definitely has a lot to learn. The rest of the article makes him look good, but that's sure a doozy of a sound bite!
He's bad. :)
So are there any slave owners alive today? Is anyone alive now lost their property because they were forced into slavery?
George Takei?
What about descendants of shave owners like Joe Biden? And does it include interest?
Lmao
If any of them are still alive, I'm sure they're making a lot more in the banking, Hollywood, and media industries now.
That is explicitly prohibited by the 14th amendment.
Is this dude trying to take a fall?
Ha! A time like this requires clowns. Clowns everywhere!
He's not wrong. At the time, slaves were property. They were essentially u see contract where many were voluntarily self-placed because they did not have a job, etc. and Avery was their only option (much like military where some join the army because it's the best option for them, they are essentially state-owned slaves, until their contract expires in 4 years). So knowing this, the owners had their property taken from them. Property they paid for, they cared for, they built housing to shelter them, fed them, doctor visits, etc. It was an investment and most treated their slaves with high regard. There were black slaves and white slaves. There were black slave owners, and white slave owners. Know your history.
