I've had this thought for my whole adult life. I've tried to explain it to several people and they never get it. I even tried to express it in a poem which didn't have good results. You do a fine job here.

Don't you think there's one more step though? That our lost, loved ones (freed up from linear constraints of time) are actually with us already?

We are souls, temporarily having a human experience. That's how I have heard it, and remember it. Cheers.

At least the poor soul had a decent end to life. It's amazing how much empathy we have for animals, compared to our fellow humans. Animals don't lie, steal, cheat, abuse, or maliciously try to hurt you mentally or physically.

We have 4 big dogs, cats, fish tanks, and 2 parrots. We've lost cats over the years, it never gets easier. We're both ( wife and I ) just dreading the first dog to go, we know it will be horrible for months, and something we'll carry forever.

You did the right and good thing ; you tried to help. You're amazing for trying to help the little guy and it shows you are a good person with a good heart.

Even though he was only in your life for a couple days, you made his short life have some meaning ; even if it was only the love you gave him.

Heartbreaking. We had a kitten-Kita who was sweet and adorable. She ended up with brittle bone disease and didn’t survive. It was incredibly painful because no one would tell us she actually had this, they just kept taking our money. 20k later and we had to give up.

Your note reminded ,eh about how sweet she was. It’s not a forum slider it’s a human emotion and I feel you.

Cat lover here. Wish I had the right words. I guess he chose you and that says a lot. Animals have a keen sense of good and evil. And while he didn’t make it, he didn’t die alone.

Strangely, we just got adopted by a female cat and I’m certain she’s expecting kittens. She had to have been dumped off because shes just too friendly to be wild. How she knew we’d help her I’ll never know.

Chin up my fren. You did good.

I believe that God brings hurt animals to those who will help them and show mercy and kindness. The poor little kitty needed some comfort on his way out and you were chosen. I'm so sorry this happened, I have been in similar situations and it's just awful! You were chosen for this moment in time & I'm so glad the kitty didn't suffer alone. WWG1WGA....even the animals Fren ❤ I am praying for your comfort rooftoptendie, and again, so sorry you had to experience this.

No honey, you didn't screw up! Poor thing was likely sick and possibly rejected my Mom because of that. You didn't mess up, you were chosen for this moment and this living being. You brought security and comfort to a sick animal, which tells me you are certainly my kind of people ❤ Don't do the guilt thing, there is nothing productive in that, and it only serves to bring you down. You helped that kitty and that kitty KNEW you would help! Chosen for a purpose and not to screw up. Chin up! There are blessings coming your way when your heart is ready to receive them!

We had a baby squirrel that we found that had afllen out of a tree in our back yard. We put him in blankets in a box and tried feeding him the best we could. I was affraid to bring it into the house. The next day i checked on him before work and he was gone. I was upset, my eight year old was heart broken. I feel like it let not only the little squirrel down, my little buddy down, but also let the Lord down. It was but six month later last october we lost my dad to cancer. I was able to see that the squirrel experience was to help my 8 year old understand loss. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but if we listen and see well enough it all makes sense in the end. Godbless you

I'm sorry you were not able to save the poor little thing. Hoping you find some comfort knowing that you tried. And that he did not die alone but in a warm safe place. Thank you for your compassion

Nobody can do more than do their best with what they are given, and you did that. No good is ever wasted. That's true even if we rarely get to see the results. Providing comfort to another at any point in life is always kind, and good.

Some things just don’t make sense and it breaks my heart every day. What I will say is there was likely nothing more you could’ve done. At least he didn’t pass hungry and scared outside, but feeling warm and loved and relaxed. Also maybe God has another kitten waiting for you at your local shelter that is currently also suffering and could use your love and care ❤️

A couple years ago I took in 3 kittens at 3 weeks old, mom died. One didn’t make it thorough the night, another lasted 2 weeks before passing. It was a gutting heartbreak. The 3rd kitten is a big fat strong girl who only lets you pet her when she’s sitting inside a cardboard box. Life is hard, it’s also beautiful. Currently nursing my elderly mum with dementia after a fall that fractured her hip. She’s asked me 11 times in the last 25 minutes where her ‘2 pink things are’ - a pink shirt I took off her to wash this morning. Saying goodbye slowly. Life is bittersweet. Full of pain and meaning. Especially in today’s world. I love you for taking in that kitten and giving it a fighting chance. I feel your pain xx

I hear your pain. I am a cat lover with 4 of my own. 2 sisters I bottle fed from 12 days of age. And another who is 18 that I bottle fed when she was only 4 weeks old. I almost lost one of the sisters early on as she was showing some signs of failure. But she survived, thankfully. She was the runt of the litter.

There was probably nothing you could do as the kitten may have already been sick. Many young kittens die in their first year of life. He may have been left by a feral mom cat because he was already sick. This is what many moms do when they realize their baby will not survive. They ignore them.

Just know you provided him with some love and comfort of human hands before he had to go.

God bless you for taking him in.

I have a few similar stories to this one. It hurts to see. But dying with a person who is trying to help is better than dying alone in the street, and you can only offer what you have. You did. It only hurts because you cared, and that’s not a bad thing.

You know that in that kitten's final moments you were a saving, loving, warm embrace. That little guy couldn't have asked for a better way to leave given the circumstances. I can't remember if its written anywhere but I cannot fathom God not taking big notice of individuals who take care of animals like this. Tendie you always put up good stuff, may you have a blessed day and peace of mind for your actions fren.
