I work in Ship Supply in Houston and ships are coming in and out, just had the busiest month in company history. I know they're being held out on West coast though
Yep when stuff like this pops up I ask my friends that work the port and see if they have similar issues they are encountering. Aside from the covid closures none have been confirmed.
Yeah, I wondered if the dock workers have shut down in protest of all these mandates that are happening. Of course, I haven't heard that but it did cross my mind.
And the cost of a container is currently 10,000 dollars for the company I work for.. It was 2000 just a few months back ...almost like a ransom fee to get it here
This was a problem earlier in the year. Has it been persistent since then or did it just suddenly start occurring again? There are articles, pictures, and videos of this exact thing from Long Beach back in February/March.
Don't know where you are but where I am, garages are having problems getting parts for car repairs, some stores have empty shelves because they can't get product in fast enough and some restaurants have cut their menus due to inability to obtain certain food items.
I just drove 1100 miles this weeks and almost every pther vehicle from Detroit to Louisville was a semi truck. And the bridge to Canada was nothing but semi trucks at stand still for miles. It was wild.

Why this comment doesn't have more updoots is beyond my comprehension.
The screenshot is really unhelpful without knowing whether this is a "normal" situation.

This is probably why the west coast is backlogged. What could be preventing ports from being open 24/7? Is it unions?
Genuine questions.

Tomorrow is day one.
And this has been ongoing for months, not one day

Here's one example.
