There was an episode of Oprah where she tried to convince her audience that a lady who ran over her husband and killed him actually was justified in doing that because he cheated on her.

Very astutely put. Rationalization is all they do: ' I steal a vote, and I think its ok. Why? Because I'm like everyone else, so if I think its ok, everyone else must be doing it too so its ok, because that is how I think and I'm normal.'
Outright thieves rationalize that anything their victims don't want stolen should be secured better, and anything they can get away with must be ok too, because they weren't caught. Most criminals do not display remorse until they are caught. Simple fact.
