I live in Tennessee and I'm wanting to move up north because I prefer the kind of snowflakes that come from the clouds instead of New York or California. What are some cities that have southern tradition like Tennessee but also has white christmases like upstate New York if there are any?

What's with everyone wanting to move out of Tennessee? I see at least one post a day about it, and nearly every one of them mention wanting to move north for snow. I'm starting to think this is some weird troll from someone having multiple accounts at this point.
nope just me lol
Well assuming it's not a troll, I'll just give the same answer I usually give. I don't see why you'd wanna leave Tennessee since it's one of the reddest states in the union and only getting redder from conservative migration (90-95% of people moving to Tennessee are conservative). But if you're dead set on moving north, the only four states I can think of that fit your criteria are Ohio, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.
Idaho is also one of the reddest states in the Union, snow is a staple since it's in the rocky mountains. Outside of Boise, everyone is a country person. Slightly different than a southern country person, but a lot of the same values, morals, etc.
Montana is basically Idaho but about 20 times larger. So everything I said about Idaho applies to Montana.
Wyoming is essentially Northern Texas. Lots of flat prairies and ranches, Rocky Mountains in the west and south, EVERYONE is a freaking cowboy. No taxes, like at all. No income, sales, and I think they don't even have a property tax. All of their taxes are subsidized by natural resource exports. THE most conservative state by percentage points in the union. Only problem is large tracts of land (1,000 acres+) are on the expensive side since there's a premium for ranchers and farmers to consider.
Ohio is the odd one out. Outside of the urban metros, Ohio has a really weird rural Appalachian type southern culture. This is mostly because a lot of southerners, specifically from the Appalachians in West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, moved to Ohio to work in factories in the turn of the century. And even more moved to work in the Automotive factories after WW II. So there's a really strong Southern Appalachian culture up there because of the mass migration during these two periods. It's honestly not even uncommon to here people in Rural Ohio speak with a southern accent because they grew up around people from Southern Appalachia and picked it up themselves. As for the weather, Ohio gets the great lake effect so snow is pretty much guaranteed in the winter. Summer can be a bit more mild, but still a little off thanks to great lake breezes.
Seems like I'll fit right in Appalachian Ohio.
Worked there it's not a bad place

Nothing like the south
I hear Racine, WI is nice.
Lmfao
^name checks out.
Good luck to you. My mother moved our family from Alabama to Ohio almost 60 years ago and the people up north are still "just as cold as the winter snow". She probably would have been MUCH happier to be with the rest of her family had she resettled in Tennessee! There are no southern traditions or hospitality up here unless you bring them with you. You won't hear "yes sir" "no sir", "yes mam" or "no mam", but you can say "bless your heart" to your heart's content and no one will be the wiser :)
So true! Also, northerners always look like they are cold.
I'm the opposite, my ma's always calling me a polar bear because of my strong tolerance to the cold.
They dont know cold.
Not what you asked but -- check out Arkansas and Branson.
I got family in the Ozarks, it's pretty sweet.
Live in TN during the winter months and MI in the summer. Love them both. However, I like the governor of TN way better.
True, but MI could use some more logical people. If you really like the snow, northern MIchigan. North of the bridge is real good people too. Dont know why they havent split off from us trolls.
Lol I would love to live in Tennessee
It's a great state, but way too on the radar for my taste.
Other than snow, what else are you looking for? Jobs? Schools? Medical care?
Schools aren't a priority, a nice hospital would be neat but not the most important thing, for jobs I'll probably just be a trucker.
Ohio is great for that
The grass isn't greener in the north east. Was so glad to get out when I did. I now have to live with chiggers and tornado threats but you still couldn't pay me to go back up north.
I would never move to the northeast, I'm using Upstate NY as an example of a white christmas.
Go to a ski resort or "Christmas" town or anyplace in Alaska for the holiday, and then go back home when it is over.
Cincinnati and Kansas City come to mind (except for snow)
I go to Pittsburg a good bit. Lots of good folks around there. Homes still under $300k in suburbs or out a bit
How often does Pittsburgh get a white christmas?
Mid or north Central Pennsylvania. Similar climate to upstate New York and probably 90% Trump voters. Multiple state forests, rivers/creeks and lakes.
