EDIT: Upon further inspection, I believe this was, indeed satire.
I wasn't able to get a good look at his history before (since I don't have a twitter account), but looking through it on nitter, there is no way this could have been real. Fun while it lasted, but deleting it for now.
This seems to have been in their playbook as well, abolish the electoral college since its fair. Try and explain this to a Libtardian they can’t comprehend why the EC helps to keep elections fair, between rural areas and cities as it was set up.
Say there is 6 lodgings in an apartment complex. Each has 1 vote to every 2 people living there. There is a 5 singles and a frat of 8 college kids that are categorized among them.
Imagine a dilemma of what is allowed to deliver to the complex. You get two choices; 1) Pizza but it's cheap and only pepperoni or cheese. Or 2) a variety of three types of food but a little more expensive.
Now in a straight democracy, the frat can essentially decide what the other 5 shall have. Doesn't matter what they contest, frat rules supreme. In a constitutional republic, you get 1 vote for every 2 people living in your home. Suddenly there can be a unity against an overwhelmingly populated frat 5 to 4.
I agree with his statement. He is absolutely correct. It is a completely horrible system that has never worked, not since day one. It has been a fraud the entire time.
Having said that, I do not agree with the implication that "democracy" should be saved.
Mob rule is not the way. A two party system is not the way. Both of these methods are merely the fraud acting itself out. They are designed to, and succeed at, eliminating debate and critical thinking, which are essential tools for getting closer to the Truth and making sound decisions, both for the individual and the group.
It is time for a new system, with clear statements of individual sovereignty (which are already ours, but must be explicitly stated for those who would attempt to trick us into giving them up). That is the only possible foundation upon which to build a non-fraudulent system of governance.
It is not the failure of the Republic, but rather the people that leads to the collapse. The Founding Fathers got it pretty damn close, but obviously we need some tweaks to strangle corruption and close "loopholes". If we need it all spelled out plainly and at length, fine. But the Rule of Law is the closest to a "perfect government" humanity is ever going to conceive.
2/3 majority to pass anything and term limits. Also cannot serve more than two high offices of Federal Government. For example, a full termed senator can run for President, run for a House seat or be nominated to the Supreme Court, but can only serve in one capacity meaning if hypothetical senator gets elected President, after their four or eight years, they can no longer serve in government. State and local governments will have to decide if former federal servants can serve in their respective governments.
Supreme Court reduced to three justices and ONLY three justices forever with force retirement on failure of routine cognitive tests beginning yearly after their 75th birthday. Not having the Justices on an election cycle is a good thing and should be kept as a "life" position provided they can do the job.
The military will be elevated to its own branch. One representative will be elected by the enlisted personnel and the other elected by the officers, both candidates will pool from all the branches enlisted and officer corps respectively. Enlisted candidates must be at least an E-6 with no less than ten years of service and Officers must be O-5 with the same. Both will serve in the Office of Commander in Chief not more than two five year terms. Any and all disputes will be settled by the President acting as the third vote. All three must be in agreement for nuclear weapons deployment.
EDIT: All three letter bois are gone to be replaced with a hybrid military and civilian Intel agency. Classification can only go up to five years under strict and scrutinized conditions otherwise most classifications will not be more than one year standard, if that. No more shadow games. This government will be so transparent that aside from military tactics and nuke locations/codes, will have nothing to hide.
We have never had a democracy, so I hardly think it is "here to stay." The idea of democracy is a fraud, but the statement that we have one is a lie. We have never been a democracy, and God willing, we never will be. But to the extent that we do have some level of democracy, that too has been and will always be a fraud without clear statements of individual sovereignty.
If you want to "make the best" of ANY system of governance, that clear statement must be made so loud, that none can ever doubt it. The Bill of Rights should have never been necessary. That was the first clear proof of the fraud inherent in the system as originally designed.
I didn't say democracy was here to stay for a thousand years, but it will be around for the next decade.
You're missing the point. We have never had a democracy. Not once in 250 years have we elected a president by democratic vote. We do have a democratic vote for some other things, but never for President.
it represents the majority of the people
It doesn't. I mean, I am fairly certain that the real majority did vote for Trump both in 2016 and 2020, but the majority according to the official numbers were both times not for Trump. In addition, there is nothing in the rules that says that the electors had to vote for how the public voted. The electors can vote however the fuck they want.
Our vote for President is mostly meaningless, at least according to the actual rules.
All of these people that say democracy they're actually talking about communism it's just they're talking about communistic versions of democracy which is their way or no way

The Bee did it first, anyway: https://babylonbee.com/news/in-stunning-blow-to-democracy-legislation-decided-by-majority-of-elected-representatives

For the left, any type of political system they can't control is unjust.
This seems to have been in their playbook as well, abolish the electoral college since its fair. Try and explain this to a Libtardian they can’t comprehend why the EC helps to keep elections fair, between rural areas and cities as it was set up.
I always used an "apartment" metaphor for this.

UPDATE
Just gonna leave this here: https://babylonbee.com/news/in-stunning-blow-to-democracy-legislation-decided-by-majority-of-elected-representatives
But it can be saved if the 48 can out vote 52
Obviously blue votes should be counted twice, because they're twice as important.
I was expecting "because the are twice as fat"
I agree with his statement. He is absolutely correct. It is a completely horrible system that has never worked, not since day one. It has been a fraud the entire time.

WHUT!?!?
They can't even add!
Racist math
Well that's it, the stupidest fucking thing I've seen today.
Seth means except if it favors his political party.
Can't find the tweet
I just took the screenshot less than 10 minutes ago. Would be weird timing if he just deleted it.
It's here: https://twitter.com/SethAMandel/status/1472764817681362951
Thanks. I was reading his other tweets. Do you know this guy? Is he a legit liberal or is he trolling them?
Don't know him, and until today didn't know of him. Based on his other tweets, I'd be quite surprised if they were satire.
That's literally how it's supposed to work.
A democracy doesn't have senators. But a republic does. These people are fools
This one is satire. Just has to be
All of these people that say democracy they're actually talking about communism it's just they're talking about communistic versions of democracy which is their way or no way
Pssst Seth...Hey....I got something I gotta tell ya... We're not a Democracy, we're a Constitutional Republic. Deal with it.
It's really odd that it's almost always close to a 50/50 split for these cases.
Wait a second... isn't the definition of democracy literally majority rule? So yeah.... 52 outvoting 48 kinda is saving democracy...
