I watch food prices closely. Today chicken at my local supermarket is 40% off, buy one get one and in some cases by 2 get one. I never see chicken this cheap. Beef is lower too. I’m stocking my freezer at this price. Anyone else seeing it? Jump on Instacart app and click show all deals.

Odd considering millions of chickens are being euthanized because of a bird flu
OR, maybe the 'bird flu' is another scare Lie and they are overstocked?
I should not have choked my chicken.
Well I bought a tray of thighs for $6.59 that was $4.38 a month ago — and the thighs are much smaller ( which is fine cause sold by weight and we’re seniors who only eat one thigh each) South Texas-HEB
The pack of thighs I got were kinda high honestly. I’m used to paying 8-10 and these were 14-17. I live in KCMO.
Probably tainted. Watch for a recall or some shit.
honestly just might be that, because of the slower sales from rising prices, they had too much that would be going bad soon and discounted it ? or found a better supplier, maybe even locally ? Family owns a grocery store, 3 generations currently working there. 1 bell pepper is $1.49 right now 😔 the prices still increasing here..
i wouldnt go near those chickens,.around 12 millions chickens have been euthanized, because of the engineered bird/flu,.bird/flu is just another covid, fraud,..wouldnd trust it,especially with everything going up,..food, fuel,..and chicken coming down,.kinda suspicious could be wrong
I do a lot of online ordering and I've noticed price drops.
It's like saying "ohh look gas priced dropped 20 cents a gallon!!" Yet it's still over $4.00 a gallon.
Can we eat the birds culled for the bird flu?
Cooking destroys it. Unless you plan on eat it raw.
Wash your hands, and wash the chicken before cooking it.
But this is normal practice. My grandmother used to wash the chicken and then rub it inside and out with salt. She was born in 1899, and her mother worked in hotels as a cook, so they knew a bit about food hygiene.
The old ways are the best! I cut a chicken today. I read about rubbing salt under the skin. It’s salted & marinating. Was going to cook it tonight. Hubby’s plans changed so I’ll cook tomorrow. He has been soaking in them in salt water. I wasn’t a fan of this until I had chicken in salt vs no salt.
State?
I’m going to save my grocery recipes & compare them in a few months. I found one from 7/21, gallon of milk was $2.99. I’m in Eastern North Carolina.
Beef has been on and off sale lately at my Alabama Kroger... got some great deals. However, "regular" beef prices are definitely up $0.50-1.00/lb.
We don't eat a ton of chicken, so I don't know prices well enough there.
I got sirloin for 7.49 lb in ok, down from two weeks ago @ 9.49 at my usual stop.
Our local grocery stores mark down meat on Tuesdays in preparation for more coming in, and because the meat will soon expire.
It will last a long time in my freezer. If it makes it there. I had a very good steak yesterday that cost less than $5. I cubed it, caramelized some onions in olive oil, and then stir fried the beef until it was browned. Then I put it on the back burner with a lid on until it was done. It was delicious and didn't need anything else on it.
In L.A., with a 50% poverty rate, if they stop the EBT cards and prices get even higher some people will get upset. Gas is almost $7- for diesel and mostly at or around $6- for gas. Grocery shelves are well stocked, though.
