Who needs cheap Chinese shit sold at an amusement park? Take a hike in the wilderness and bring a naturalist book and figure out leaves, flowers, and geologic formations in your own! Don’t wait to be entertained, discover the world yourself!!
It took me too long to figure that out for myself.
Now that our kids are out of the house and my wife has taken on added responsibilities at work I've started solo backpacking through different countries in Europe.
I'd have had a much different life if I'd started doing that forty years ago instead of waiting until I retired.
I think at our stage in life, we realize the time we wasted pursuing career and family was fulfilling, but we are remis for what that time could have been... Not that it is wrong to want to pursue either career or family - it’s just that as our time on earth becomes relevant, and we look back at what we thought was important, and see that the time ahead of us is limited, well … it all starts to shrink… and the relevance of what we thought we wanted to be vs what we could have benefitted from the start makes us question our choices.
But make no mistake, we are where we are because of our choices. So we HAVE to accept them. And gain comfort in the journey.
However, I do envy those “hippies” who do understand that and just take themselves and their families along for the ride. As long as that journey is faith based.
I’m just not sure about Dolly. She’s either got great genetics, plastic surgeon or into Adrenochrome. She’s really chummy with Miley Cyrus & just did a phone company commercial with her.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t go to Dollywood, just have suspicions.
I am still on Disney World groups on FB. The parks are still full. People are having trouble getting in, since you not only have to buy a ticket, but also have to have a "reservation". They forget to make the reservation and the park is at max capacity so they can't go in. People are complaining about the crowds. I think the 70% saying they won't support Disney sounds good, but it must be in merchandise and TV/movies (which were killed by covid anyhow), and not the parks.
I agree, it’s probably mainstream families aren’t buying merch, movies, music & not letting kids watch. I have unfollowed all the Disney accounts on Instagram. I used to follow a lot of fan accounts, shopping & Disney. I had already unfollowed before the pedo news surfaced. I’m a life long Walt Disney World fan & have been a lot! First time was 1973 & I don’t know how many times I’ve been.
The mask mandates got me. I know lots of people were going during that time because the parks were almost empty. If it was free I wouldn’t have gone. For months I read the comments on accounts between pro mask/vax & anti. It was very entertaining🤣

Their deluxe resort prices were ridiculous years ago.
Now people have were shut in so long or not taking scheduled trips Disney is at max compacity daily. Even in the winter months they were packed every day. When the Europeans were able to fly here it really didn’t help. (Not saying they don’t deserve to visit)
I don’t have small children or grandkids, my child watched the movies in the 90s. But she watched just about every other kids entertainment. We were not Disney centered with TV.
DeSantis also signed into law Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill. The bill prohibits teachers from giving classroom instruction on “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” in kindergarten through third grade.
Though DeSantis is trying to do something good with this bill, as a parent and a grandparent, I think he should prohibit teachers from discussing/instructing these things with any child in the school system, no matter the grade/age. It's not the place of a teacher to discuss/instruct these things with their students.

I don’t use Duck anymore, only use google if I can’t find on Brave. For example looking up information on herbs or essential oils I used to get sites by certified people in those fields. Now I get gov & hospital medical sites. Even on Brave it’s censored.
Search for Christian, faith based, morality pages posting kid approved. (You don’t have to believe in Christianity or other religions to agree with raising kids with morals) I used to think people that went by these guides were the crazy religious nuts. Fast forward to my child almost 30 & being here I finally get it! However, my daughter didn’t have free range of the TV. We were very blessed she wasn’t a kid that tested limits. Everyone at church used to tell us how well behaved & sweet she was. It scared us & it’s probably why we only had one. (Don’t rock the boat)
I believe there is Amazon Kids. However I wouldn’t trust Amazon or any media company. I’m 55, rated R & PG content certainly isn’t what it was when I was a kid. Heck I didn’t grow up with PG 13, etc. I saw one rated R movie before I was 16-17. It was Stripes, my friend got her mom to drop us off at the movie. We paid for some kids cartoon movie & snuck in Stripes. I was 14, 1981 & that wasn’t like it is today with six+ movies at one time.
From my experience with some friends and family kids & myself, they will find a way to watch or do what you deny. It’s human nature. I also think that comes back to having a respectful relationship & pushing a kid to hard in your beliefs. My cousins son wasn’t allowed to have junk food or sodas. As soon as he hit my house he went straight to the snacks and sodas. He’d drink one in seconds and ask for another. (He turned out good)

Set up Jellyfin or Kodi. Its not hard and you can use any old computer, even a Raspberry Pi. Then get a DVD ripper and rent movies from the library. Rip them, then add them to your collection. The best part is that most of the stuff at the library is pre-woke.
