She threw up bile and is twitching rght now. if i touch her stomach she cries out to me like she's saying "help me this hurts really bad".
I've never seen her be this way. She's 17 years old. She's laying down now but still twitching. I know animals try to hide their pain from their owners. No vet is open so I suppose I'll take her in the morning. I hate the idea of saying "oh do i spend money on her, or do i think hmm she's really old and getting worse'
I pray peace over you, fren. And I pray peace over your pet.
thank u
The vet will tell you if she is in a lot of pain and whether it is worth it to try and fix her. Sometimes its just a simple fix and the cat can go another year or 2. If it is something huge then it is best to have her put to sleep. Please Please make sure if you have her put to sleep you stay with her the entire time. It is so important that yours is the last face she sees. Good luck and I hope she is actually going to be ok.
Thank you. I will for sure be with her if she needs to go.
Thank you for your kind post. I just hope she gets over it tonight. She's laying down trying to sleep I think.
Tearing up...
Me too.
thanks fren
Animals in general have the instinct of not showing pain, if they were in the wild and did that, the others may turn on them and put them down. Vet will be able to let you know, sorry you have to wait on them, hard thing to go through. Mine was similar and passed at home though, she wasn't crying out in pain, just got weaker and weaker and then quietly went to an empty room one night and passed. Pray for peace for you and yours, if she is going to pass please allow her to do so with out the stress of her owner "freaking out." pets are wonderful creatures to connect with in life.
Definitely not freaking out. Just pet her occasionally and then she tells me that she has some pain with her cry.
That sounds like my cat after she had a stroke. In 24 hours we had to put her down. Her mouth was paralyzed and she could not eat. Awful, my heart goes out to you.
Her mouth isn't paralyzed. Her stomach area seems to hurt.
When the time comes to make a decision, it will be less about the money, and more about what’s in your cat’s best interest. You’ll know what to do. I wish you both the best.
I hope the vet is honest and not just wanting money for unnecessary stuff if she's on her last leg.
The vet can provide information, which can help you make the right decisions. You have the final word - trust yourself. A good night’s sleep will give you a fresh perspective in the morning. I will hold you both in prayer tonight and through the weekend.
Thank you.
Both my cats who died went about the same way. Heavy breathing, losing control of bladder, and looking like they don't know where they are.
Sorry to hear it. She's probably in pain because her kidney is shutting down and solidifying. If you've ever had kidney stones, it would feel like that...
There's not much you can do, unfortunately.
She hasn't lost control of bladder yet, but she is getting dementia and sometimes forgets things. Also has cataracts.
Sounds to me like it's time to put her down. It sucks, we've done it 4 times most recently a year ago, but it sounds like she's suffering. The vet can give you their opinion, but she's pretty old and it may be time.
But most of her days are good. I mean she sleeps and eats. Occasionally wants to play. I'm sure the vet will say to do some xrays and other stuff. I just don't know.
Maybe she has something else going on then. Definintely bring her to a vet to see what they say. They'll probably draw some blood to run some diagnostic tests. Good luck!
Thanks yep first thing in the morning
Could she have picked up a poison of some sort ? Do you have any rat / mouse baits anywhere ? Some plants can also cause reactions in cats. Lilies are lethal to them. Any essential oils in the house? 17 isn't awfully old for a cat really,I've had them go to 26. Sorry she is unwell. Is there any emergency vets on call ? All the best.
Do you have a gun?
I lost them in a boating accident, you?
I only mention as a quick way to put her out of misery. Takes nerves of steel. Get a friend to do it. Tough call. Go with God, both of you.
I'm praying for you friend.
I just lost my doggie two weeks ago. She was 14. She threw up bile and started twitching. I'm too chicken-shit to call the vet. She died in my arms less than 24 hours later. It's brutal. It sounds like you are at the end, my friend. Make the decision that's best for you and your pet. I couldn't put my dog down, but avoiding that decision certainly didn't make anything better or easier. I still lose my breath over it. Damn. I think my wife is cutting onions in the kitchen again.
All dogs go to heaven. Say different and see what happens.
:( 2nd time i heard twitching is a bad sign .
Ahhh.
Don't you have an emergency vet open? She needs something for her pain. Omg, I'm so sorry.
They have emergency stuff but the vet has to travel from out of town. I live in a small town.
If she is in pain and 17 let her go!
When it becomes about you missing the pet vs the pets quality of life.
You know
I am so sorry for what you are going thru tonight. I have always tried to think of treatment in terms of is this good for my pet or is this because I don't want to lose them yet? Over the years I have done things both ways a run to the nearest emergency vet very expensive and just keep them comfortable and let nature take it's course,. Holding them while the vet gives them the drugs to put them to sleep. Remember all the happy times with your cat.
Thank u for your comment. Usually when i want to feel better I think of all the bad times (like when breaking up with someone).
I will hold her and make sure she sees me before she has to go
Thank you !

This is sad :(
I think we connect with pets because they have the same conscious awareness that we do. Except they lack ego and love unconditional unlike most humans. I think we see that consciousness and recognize it as ourselves. We are all one and the same. My 2 cents
It's a dead cat, I'd chum catfish with it.
