Hmmm. I wonder if along with capturing an image of your fingernails to direct it where to paint, they also get complete copies of all of your fingerprints to use later as they see fit. See this:
"To paint your nails, Clockwork's machines rely on cameras, data, and algorithms. You place a digit on a finger rest and slide it into the machine, where two cameras rapidly take about 100 pictures of the nail. Apte said those images are used to create a 3-D point cloud showing the shape of the nail, and this data is used to figure out where the edges of your nail are located."
I agree with that. I’m 55 female & I have had nail polish once on my for a wedding. Non toxic nail polish is available & it’s expensive. The shopping & fashion industry told women they needed makeup & polished nails.
Many women died from toxins bleaching their hair in the 1920-1930 era. I believe the hair chemicals cause cancer.
I have known quite a few cosmetology type girls who should have had big families (cute girls that seem fertile etc) who just couldn’t ever get pregnant. I always wonder if it’s the chemicals
I think that's why you see so many Asians doing it, because sadly it pays well and they are happy to be here rather than wherever they're from but I don't think it's good for you.
I keep seeing ads lately for a fast food cooking robot- Flippy. Thought the same thing you did about all the people it will be putting out of jobs. All those people now demanding $20 for flipping burgers will be begging for minimum wage again just to keep their jobs. Sadly, I think that was one of the planned purposes of wage inflation on these types of jobs. Now the big companies will have excuses to fire people and replace them with a robot.
there's no putting the genie back in the bottle. a lot of professions can, and will, be automated. there is a barista robot the size of a phone booth. there comes a point at which we need to figure out how we are going to adjust.
I don't think this robot is going to take people's jobs, at least not yet. The robot can only paint nails, not clip, file, or cut back cuticles. Not a manicure, only nail painting. I would consider using it. I never get my nails done, mostly because the thought of having to interact with the person doing my nails terrifies me, ha ha.
This Seinfeld episode explains it all. Elaine goes to Korean nail salon. I have had very few manicures & pedicures mainly because I don’t trust the cleanliness of those places. I will only go to a larger salon that provides multiple services. When I went to the places speaking a different language I always felt I was living this episode.

😱 I didn’t even think of that.
Tbf nail tech is a shitty position with lots of exposure to carcinogenic chemicals like acetone and VOCs in the polish.

Yeah a lot of hairdressers get that too, cancers and issues from the cleaning, perming, and other chemicals they use daily.

I wonder that myself. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Better a robot than an illegal alien.
It would be unfortunate if the drinks they sell at the food court place near the entrance of Target were accidentally spilled on these robots.

Agreed.
I am a software engineer. Working on a project to help develop personal brands.
This is the future. You are your own brand.
I consider target another enemy of the people, especially women and girls.
So it is a machine that paints the nails? But who does the filing?
