Ok so your defense of circumcision is that it wasn't God's idea, he was just being practical and using something already in the culture. But if they were already doing it for some other reason, then how would it be reminder of a covenant? It would just be a thing they were already doing. Also, how is it highly visible unless people are walking around naked?
Personally I find it to be a disgusting practice regardless of who is doing it for how long or why. The Earth gave us wondrous bodies that can bring us much joy. We should cherish and respect our bodies.
