I remember someone saying not teaching cursive , of course under the guise of rasist, was so the newer generations were simply not capable of reading it.
Actually, teaching and using cursive has a positive effect on your mind and logic.
One more reason to get your kids out of public schools. Stupid stuff like this should have been a dealbreaker for parents years ago.
Especially inner city schools. County schools are so the much better than city schools. Parents have a say so in government in the county aspect for some reason.
No they're not! The same crap is done in the county schools as in the city schools. I'm seeing it here in a very rural, VERY conservative area. The truth is most parents haven't seen what's really going on with their children in these schools and judging by your post, still don't.
BTW, I used to think the answer was to elect good school board members. I now believe the schools everywhere are so entrenched with pandering to the NEA, it can't be fixed. NEA has too much control.
NEA?
Teachers' union. National Education Assoc.
You are exactly correct. Corrupted totally. Rip it out root and branch. No more teachers unions, no federal Dept of Ed. Learn to code administrators...we don’t need you. Too top heavy. Talented people don’t go into teaching in the first place or they leave after getting an idea of the system. We can change that!
Actually, I think the best thing is to just eliminate the public schools. If parents are given vouchers and a choice, I think that will happen. Any schools that survive will get a lot better fast or they'll close too.
Agreed—let the market decide and compete. Cutting off the money supply from the feds is key to wresting control.
Homeschooler of four here.
We need to eradicate the Federal Dept. of Education. Send it ALL back to the States and local communities.
That's a small start. You do realize half of your local government's budget goes to schools, don't you? And another large chunk from your state. Bad schools didn't just come from the Dept. of Ed. And like I said, a lot of the problems are because local school boards have kowtowed to the demands of the radical leftist NEA.
Yep, agree
Epoch Times did an awesome article about a year or so ago, maybe two?... about the importance of cursive writing. it included analysis of how it impacts the brain's ability to process information and make connections when learning to write cursive.
I only had it in print, and would love to find a digital copy for permanent storage.
Yes, from that research, it seems clear to me that the decision not to teach cursive writing anymore is another part of the dumbing down process.
I don't have an account there so can't read the articles, but got this far. Maybe its one of these.

Thank you!
I didn't know how to find that. Oh boy, it was 2017 it looks like for the one i saw...so twice as long ago as I had thought.
I will keep all of these as they are all relevant.
I love this document. As valid now as it was when the ink was drying.
They want you dumb and compliant.
I am a guest teacher and one of the students told me that they don’t know cursive. I thought he was giving me a hard time, but now I believe it.
Good. They need more education. You are a good parent.
tbh i cant read it ither
LMFAO
That is some beautiful, carefully written handwriting. I could never do that.
LOL Good one!
Well I’ll be. I never thought of this, but you are right. Though, my son is being taught cursive. 2nd grade. I do not member his brothers learning it and they are middle school now. I was with them at that grade. Though, we did live in a poorer neighborhood and they did go to a school that was 75% black. It was my wife’s grandparents house. Her grandad built it with his own hands. It was actually the schools that finally helped her make the decision to give the house up. I am so sorry to my wife that democrats took over her childhood safe place.
Cursive was removed from most public school curriculum for a couple of reasons, 1) It promotes some form artistic individualism, 2) Most of our important documents are written with it and, 3) It's a lot harder for computer's/AI to read in picture format than printed information.
Sad thing is the emoji thing run along the same lines it would seem. It's like they're dumbing us down taking written communication back to Egyptian hieroglyphs.
They do not want to acknowledge it, nor have it taught because you cannot truly understand the Constitution without having a full understanding of the Declaration of Independence. Together, they are the cornerstone of the principles upon which our Constitutional Republic was established.
To be fair, it is pretty difficult to read.
Not really because of the writing style though, but the phrasings are from a bygone era and the small print to boot
Does this imply they can read anything else?
So I just did a quick look at Youtube and found this video that makes a lot of sense! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug780oeHhhI
My grandson just graduated, and I was shocked to find out they stopped in the middle of the alphabet and said they weren’t going to teach it anymore! I took him to get his first debit card and when he went to sign, he printed! I said you have to sign, not print….that is when I found out! 😳
FYI: Look closer. It's a style of calligraphy, but it's not cursive (although some of the signatures are written in cursive.)
