Melatonin is one of the things Trump was given when he came down with COVID (or whatever the heck it was). Like MANY cheap and effective supplements, melatonin is far safer than most patented artificial drugs and more effective for a variety of conditions than many of the drugs are. "We have the cures" doesn't necessarily mean we have single-substance magic bullets (although we probably do, for some diseases or conditions), but rather that we have, ALREADY AVAILABLE, things that can do more to prevent and cure disease, slow aging, and improve your quality of life than you might imagine.
Melatonin is known for helping restore circadian rhythm and for healthy sleep. It does A LOT more, though, and Dr. Mercola's article at LewRockwell today is seriously worth reading. It's longish, so here are the highlights:
Melatonin ASAP after stroke or heart attack can reduce permanent damage
“If I had a heart attack and I had melatonin on my person, I would take melatonin,” Reiter says. “The question is how much? … This is not a recommendation to any of your patients, but I would not be hesitant about taking 50 milligrams at the time, and some subsequently for the next 24 hours, even during the day. Because you don’t want to lose any more heart cells than is absolutely necessary …. (Side note: SUBLINGUAL melatonin would put the melatonin to work faster than capsules or tablets. Also, Pre-treatment with PQQ, 20mg - 30mg per day regularly, also helps reduce damage from stroke and heart attack, per articles cited by Life Extension.) Reiter stresses that melatonin has no known toxic threshold, so even though we don’t know what the ideal dose is, we do know it’s safe even at high doses. Additionally, the timing of the dose will be important. The first dose should be taken immediately, but subsequent melatonin dosing should follow circadian biology, so around 10 a.m., 4 p.m., and before bed.
Melatonin can reduce damage from diabetes
Reiter notes he has diabetic colleagues who take 1 gram of melatonin daily to counteract the free radical damage caused by hyperglycemia. Keep in mind that melatonin does not treat the cause of the diabetes. It only helps to counteract the damage being caused.
Melatonin Is Also a Potent Antiviral
He has now treated more than 2,000 patients, very successfully, with melatonin.
The importance of melatonin in reference to COVID is that it is not specifically for [the original Wuhan strain]. The variants, Delta, Omicron, they’e viruses we think will respond. We currently have a paper in press where we showed that in animals, Zika virus toxicity is also prevented by melatonin, and we’ve checked four different coronaviruses in pigs.
That paper also shows that melatonin prevents the damage — the consequence — of those viruses. I think [melatonin] is generally a quite good antiviral agent and should be considered as useful. When President Trump was hospitalized with COVID, one of the molecules he was given was melatonin. Obviously, the physicians treating him knew this literature.”

Note: Melatonin is cheap, "has no known toxic threshold", and is sold in many forms and dosages including liquids and gummies. It's also one of life's oldest molecules, being found even in plants and bacteria.
Pistachios are rich in melatonin and nourishing too. I don't know how much you would have to eat to reach these therapeutic levels, but if I eat a cup a day (unshelled) it makes a huge difference in my dreams (tip from a checker at Sprouts).

I took melatonin in college to help me sleep better. It gave me creepy dreams. Not nightmares, but just weird, creepy ones. I switched to L-Tryptophan for sleep and didn't have the weird dreams anymore.
You'd have to eat a bunch. Like 100 or so twice a day to reach therapeutic levels of melatonin. When I tried it with high dose niacin, I blended the pistachios with milk and banana for a smoothie. It is good, but got old pretty quick like. It worked to alleviate the flush from the niacin.
Melatonin from foods, and not processed supplements, is far more potent and you need much less. This was not only true of pistachios, but also of tart cherry syrup.
Oh? I also eat lots of tart cherries to ward off gout. And I probably eat 100 nuts, easily. I'm trying not to eat so many.
Cherry juice - natural melatonin.
Tart cherry. You can get a concentrated syrup that will dress up a smoothie real nice.
And tasty, too! Also, lots antioxidant goodness. Lots of sugar also, so best to not really guzzle the stuff.
I learned a good trick for juices. Add an equal amount of water and it’s just as tasty. Half cup of juice and a half cup of water for one cup of juice and 50% less sugar.
Starting drinking tart cherry juice after my knee replacement. Super anti-inflammatory too! Tastes divine, not too sweet.
Black cherry juice is good for inflammation. I haven't heard of "tart" cherry juice.
Tart cherries are also called pie cherries. Sweet cherries are the ones we buy to eat fresh from the grocery store.
Great article. If you’re taking melatonin to help you sleep, take a low dose 3 to 5 mg to get as close to the amount naturally released by the pineal gland to line up your circadian rhythm. Been taking 5 mg for over 15 years, about an hour before I want to go to sleep. Works like a charm.
I think natural release is in micrograms. 200-600 mcg depending on age.
What would be the Melatonin dosage to use for cancer curing?
I can't answer your question, but I take 120mg at bedtime and my lymphoma has not returned. I also eat a fist full of broccoli sprouts (look up sulforaphane. It's amazing) and take 500mg fenbendazole every day too.

The article doesn't give a specific dosage nor does it likely cover all the detail you'd want to have if you were dealing with cancer. I suggest actually reading the article and doing more research -- a LOT more research if you are dealing with cancer yourself.
The article does point out that A -- melatonin is a natural molecule that life has been making and relying on for literally billions of years (plants and even bacteria make it), and B -- melatonin "has no known toxic threshold", so unlike say, chemotherapy, where the "cure" is sometimes more damaging than the disease (one study found that in the first month of treatment, more patients died from the chemo than from their cancer) -- higher-than-normal doses of melatonin are not likely to be harmful; it's something your body ALREADY MAKES. Don't be stupid about it; you can actually kill yourself by drinking too much water, for instance, but the article mentions 50mg for after-heart-attack or -stroke cellular protection and ONE GRAM being taken by some medical colleagues for protection from cellular damage caused by high blood sugar in diabetics. A gram is a surprisingly large dose; I'd start with less in any case.
Also: many supplements fight cancer according to studies, often very many studies. Occasionally you'll see articles about someone who became cancer-free from taking, for instance, nothing but high-dose curcumin (one of the best-proven supplements for fighting cancer). But those anecdotal cures are rare. As modern mainstream cancer therapies show, fighting cancer isn't the same as curing cancer, else there wouldn't be anyone dying from the disease. EDIT: A "cure" often involves more than one substance or action (Dr. Zelenko's COVID protocol, for instance. Here's Life Extension's protocol page, including information about cancer.)
If I were dealing with cancer, I'd take a wide range of supplements that have shown efficacy against cancer instead of any single one by itself. Also, I'd cut out seed oils (they're in everything, read labels and you'll see), eat organic or home-grown food wherever possible, reduce my intake of carbs and sugar, and do a number of other things -- all of which would encourage better health generally and, from the studies I've seen, would likely make it harder for cancer to survive, grow, and metastacize in my body.
If you ARE dealing with cancer, or have a family member who is, I wish you well.

Sorry to hear that. Your body makes melatonin already -- as the article points out, melatonin is made by not only animals but also plants and even bacteria -- so it might be some other ingredient or excipient in the product you've taken.
Related: the smallest dose I've seen for sale is 300 micrograms at Life Extension. For that matter they also sell melatonin in liquid form and in gummies, so if there is something aside from melatonin in the tablets, lozenges, or capsules, maybe the liquid or gummy formulation would do. -- assuming you have an interest in that, anyway.
The average melatonin your body produces is in micrograms. Mcg. Im always surprised when people take 5-10mg before bed.

Maybe this is propaganda, but I thought it is not recommended to take melatonin every day for more than roughly 30 days. It can cause night terrors or nightmares. Anyone who takes it regularly ever had any issues?
I do know as people get older, they quit producing enough melatonin.
I've been taking melatonin for thirty years or more with no problems, and for that matter I've never HEARD of anyone having anything like an actual problem from melatonin. In the video posted here by Make_it_So, there is much talk about people (and research animals) who have taken melatonin long-term without issues. In one case, mice were given 300mg per day (PER MOUSE; 300mg each, not "by weight compared to an average adult human) with no detectable side effects.
