Good meme! Just my opinion here now... The photo doesn't do justice for either ladies. On one side of the coin you had a young lady who was/is good looking and physically a raw skating talent. On the flip side was a tall lean lady with average talent who has a smile that looked like she could eat an ear of corn through a picket fence. The difference was one camp had the media working for them. When it came down to raw athletic talent, Tanya was the superior. But like most Olympic trials, it was a "silver spooner" vs blue collar trailer park ..or.. as we know it today: elites vs serfs. Not defending Tanya, but the best she could do was a not very swift thinking goon squad (Knees R Us) for managers. (Like FJB has today) vs. a well $$$ funded grooming organization who was going to promote (buy) an average talented skater to Superstar status. Tanya has been banned from competitive skating for obvious reasons, but shes been known to show up to local skating rinks and put on the blades and do what she loves.
