In order to preserve my anonymity, I have decided to forgo a voice recording on this screen cast. If you have any questions about any steps in this video, please ask below and include a timestamp. I will be around all evening to answer any questions about memesmithing. We already had a great warmup discussion going last night.
While this video is roughly 20 minutes in length, a typical meme only takes me around 5 minutes to produce. The Elon Musk memes I’ve been making require a bit more work to get right. If all you wish to do is layer a Pepe atop an image, that can be done in a matter of minutes, and the skills necessary to accomplish that feat are the same as presented in this video.
As a last note, I just uploaded this video to Rumble, so the resolution is still rather poor. Give it another hour, and the 720p version should be processed.
Have fun! Don’t forget to post your finished memes on The Great Awakening tonight. Top memes will be stickied!
I tried that, but the result wasn't great. Not all faces are perfectly alike, and the result didn't look quite as good. Plus, a goofy painted mustache makes the meme funnier in my opinion.
The very definition of a meme is a viral image that is shared, modified, and reinterpreted in an endless cycle across the internet.
Though coming up with original meme templates is what we should all strive towards. This level of memeing is most challenging though. For the newer memesmiths, feel free to take an existing template and do your own thing with it.
That is probably the most important item in creating an effective meme. I used to teach Graphic design and billboards had a rule. No more than ONE picture and six words or less.
Compare cartoonists Branco vs Garrison. Simplicity is always more effective.
Another tip for quality memes: Unless the subject matter of the meme is a misspelling, NO TYPOS! Read, re-read and read it again. Ive seen too many otherwise great memes with misspellings that are instantly rejected by normies.
This is the one time when being your own ‘spelling nazi’ is critical.
I don't have a computer or a Pepe. Only a phone. I guess I'll just keep stealing memes share them with friends and family and wherever else I can and feel like I'm doing my part.
WWG1WGA!
GOD BLESS THE MEME MAKERS!
We can cover how to make memes on mobile in the next workshop. I've been meaning to learn this myself. Some of the other mods have some great tools at their disposal that can help with mobile memesmithing.
I get by well enough with some tools on Android. My son has shown me some interesting things with Photopea (like Photoshop/Gimp online). I need to test this with my phone to see if itwould work well enough.

If I was doing that in, say, Photoshop, I would simply erase the lip on the front layer to expose the moustache behind. Feasible?

Understood, thanks.
Nice work! Wacom or huion?
Mouse. 🐁
Wow, you have a delicate touch!
First rule of meming, avoid putting logos on memes. It’s not about getting credit, it’s about getting the message across.
Excellent point!
Let the meme speak for itself.

Memematic is an app that can help with the template.

Being Anon is how I operate with memes. Too many want credit, totally missing the point of this AND the Anon culture.
I know right? This is why I cringe whenever I see the TPUSA memes.
Only when a meme is stolen (without credit) does it truly blossom into full meme-hood.

Presentation is key

This can be the first of many meme workshops.

Standing by! Willig to learn.
Apple & Android will need to be addressed.

Use memematic app for your phone.
Looks like it can be used on phones, though can we add text? Testing now.
That's a great meme. Didn't know it was homegrown. 🐸
