Christine McVie, the British keyboard player and co-vocalist in Fleetwood Mac whose honeyed voice steered numerous hits, died Wednesday. She was 79.
A member of Fleetwood Mac for more than 50 years – with a few intermittent breaks – McVie imbued their sound with a feathery touch.
The band posted a statement on their official social media accounts calling her “one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life … We cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.”
Fleetwood Mac’s representative, Kristen Foster, confirmed McVie’s death to USA TODAY.
According to McVie’s family, she “passed away peacefully at (the) hospital following a short illness.”
You can go your own way Christine.
Good one, Fester. You beat me to it 🙂
Fleetwood Mac had some pretty good songs over the years, but I have to admit I have a weakness for one of their songs that I actually prefer over the others - it is from when Bob Welch was with the band back in the 70's. From the album Mystery to Me, there was a song named Hypnotized. Good, steady beat. You can hear McVie and Stevie Nicks doing the background vocals on that one. To each his own, I guess.

Thanks, I totally forgot about that video and hadn't seen it for years. Haunting tune to say the least.
Thank you! Haven't heard or thought about this one for decades.
My favorite also! “North Carolina and a strange strange pond”. I always thought they were saying “Hypmotized” instead of “Hypnotized”. I lived in North Carolina for a few years and will go back when I retire.
"The sides were like glass, in the thick of the forest, without any road....and if any man's hand had made that land, then it would have showed." Haunting lyrics. Having driven through western North Carolina a few times [I live in eastern Tennessee], I always wondered if I was even close to where Bob Welch was referring.
I also lived near Bulls Gap, TN., for 3 years. Love the area!
Reminds me of Jimi Hendrix's Pali Gap.
I remember the band well. For me, it seems like it was only yesterday listening to Fleetwood Mac's top billboard songs. I don't know why it is we tend to somehow immortalize these people when we never knew them, but only their songs. We tend to remember times like these as if they were time capsules. I read Christine McVie was 79 years old when she died. My first thoughts was no way she was this old. But then I thought about my own age and said to myself, my God, time flies all too fast. Another one gone. When I read further, I can only suspect what the cause of her sudden illness was. She was indeed a great musician, who wrote a lot of the songs that made Fleetwood Mac famous. 79 in my book is still way too young. RIP.

So she died of an illness so brief and sudden that her best friend only just found out about it a few days ago.
Clearly died of climate change.
Christine McVax? 🤔
Fleetwood Vax?
was she fully vaccinated and boosted?

She was probably vaxxed. But she was also 79. Sitting @59, that doesn't seem too far away but still, it's not unusual for a 79yo to pass. I hope she knew Jesus. She does now.
over my head was her finest imo
‘Say You Love Me’ was mine. Both great.
Songbird was her song and her song, alone. It can deep within you, if you allow it.
Yes!
Everywhere
For her, there will be no more cryin'.... RIP
Wow. That's sad! I had no idea she was that old. My thoughts went from "was she vaxed? Probably" to "doesn't matter. 79 is a good life." Although 79 doesn't seem as old to me as it used to. I guess now I'm off to look and see how old Stevie Nicks is. I always loved her, then I learned about her. Shame for her too, she's an idiot. I should just listen to music and not learn about the people.
Really? USA Today? Not CNN or MSNBC or even Rolling Stone?
