The only reason people are asshurt over TikTok is because China controls it instead of the DHS/CIA/[insert three letter US government agency here]. I'm not going to defend China here, but I'm also not going to pretend that our own corrupt regime making our lives hell with stolen elections and fatal injections is somehow better and more responsible with social media than what China is doing with TikTok. It's all spying and manipulating whether it's TikTok or Twitter or Facebook.
A place to discuss and post TikTok reverse engineering research. Try not to post anything proprietary that'll get the sub DMCA'd. Instead, post Frida and Xposed hooks to those methods.
The goal of this subreddit is to expose TikTok for what it is: A data collection service that vacuums up everything they can in order to identify you personally.
What they do with that data is anyone's guess, but keep in mind that they're legally bound to comply with the CCP's requests for any and all data and censorship.
Tiktok's datamining and its EULA are especially invasive. By agreeing to their terms you give them permission to spy on the entirety of any network you're connected to
Yes, their ToS allows them to collect data on the entire network of whatever the device running it is connected to. I'll look it up when I get home, but Tiktok is a spyware program masquerading as a social media app.
My wife said she was on her computer at work, in NY, using the network there with no specific link to her, and a pop-up ad came up that was very specific to something related to a book my mother, in FL, bought for her on Amazon! I think it's gotten to the point where they only need a name and address to now link to any computer you might be on anywhere else!
Every app on your phone on your computer on your TV in your car is spying on you, what difference does it make at this point??

I have no intention of getting the app, but this is obvious to an outsider.
No, there's good reasoning. Not just because it's China.

The app isn't even fucking good, either.

Can you elaborate on that ? Allowing someone who has TikTok on their phone to connect to my Wi-Fi is a security risk to me ?
