The legal term amicus curiae is a Latin phrase that literally means “friend of the court.” The term is used to refer to a legal brief, called an amicus brief that may be filed with an appellate court, including a supreme court, by a party not involved with a current case, but in support of one side or another on the legal issue at hand.
Amicus briefs are commonly filed in appeals regarding matters of broad public interest, such as civil rights cases, cases broadly affecting such institutions as education or the powers of law enforcement. To explore this concept, consider the following amicus brief definition.

Seeking to secede because the elected lawmakers would not do their job, and were allied with and taking orders from foreign and domestic enemies intent on
subverting and destroying the USA.
Yes, as a Californian, I believe the group is sincere and serious in the intent to allow the will of the citizens to prevail. According to the plan, "Old California will be a tiny fraction of counties and the New California state will be the majority. Here is a link to the proposal:
I agree it's a credible cause. I'd be all for it. But it's not likely to happen anytime soon. What does it mean?
Someone from California has filed a petition to support the Brunson case!

I feel this Amicus by the CA group seeking to succeed from CA purpose is to divert / detract from the seriousness of the Brunson case.
Seeking to secede because the elected lawmakers would not do their job, and were allied with and taking orders from foreign and domestic enemies intent on subverting and destroying the USA.
That seems credible to me.

A movement in Cali for part of the state to secede (like West Virginia did).
