Competition is the best thing. Home schooling, private schools all beat public schools. So, why do these people have to support public schools with their property taxes? Make only people who chose public schools pay property taxes. Grandma and grandpa shouldn't have to pay property taxes.
Once we establish a flat tax, all kids should be given a $ amount...say like, $10K / year. That money can be spent to go to any school they want, even homeschool.
No extra funding to public schools, they stand on their own merit like everyone else. You want to be dead dicks filling our kids heads full of bull shit, then they will get to see how many "customers" are willing to buy that.
I'm not on board with a flat tax. The original intent of the Constitution was for excise tax to fund these federal united States. It worked successfully before and it would work again. The people could be taxed by dealing in commerce as a sales tax. The income tax is slave tax. The carbon tax is not only a slave tax, but the consequence of death for being a non-productive slave.
Knowing our government though, they'll just slap more tariffs and taxes and "forget" about reducing the sources of taxation, to further bleed people dry.
See: Places like Canada, where ordering something from Japan for example means you have to pay a customs fee on top of shipping costs and then on top of all the taxation.
It's pretty awful honestly, and I can see them "forgetting" about that.
But if other tax sources were eliminated, then people would be more welcoming to paying tariffs and fees because it would (if appropriately priced) relieve the tax burden which also means more purchases.
It would probably even out in the long run, because people would spend more if massive percentages of their income weren't removed from their paychecks every period.
I honestly have no idea what it will or should be. If we go through a currency reset, to a real asset backed currency, and back to a proper tax structure, hell it may be $100 / year. No clue.
My kids went to a for-profit online school due to health issues. The local tax money that would have gone to the public school went to them. They never wasted a penny on crap. The Junior High trip to DC cost us $50, which they refunded. My daughter's senior trip was three days on Orlando. It was free.
What's your point here? Should grandma and grandpa that paid off their mortgage and now living on SS benefits pay property taxes for this? I don't believe they should. IMHO, only the people who choose to send their children to public schools should pay. The public schools have become ideology centers for Marxism and Luciferian beliefs. Not many people agree with this. It is high time we break their dystopian monopoly and allow real competition determine their survival. Eliminating property taxes and allowing the marketplace determine success is a fantastic idea that is long overdue.
I have been paying prop tax for 30 years where 60% goes to schools. I have no children. My hubs is 68. Yes, I think we should get a 60% break on paying anymore.
110% Agreed. Consider this. Our founding fathers understood how extremely important property rights were that Alexander Hamilton once advocated only property owners should have the right to vote. I do not necessarily agree with this, but I do understand the rationale behind it. In terms of this thinking, where does our present situation leave us regarding the vote? It has been completely undermined and has contributed to the massive fraud we are seeing today.
My mistake. The state money went to the for-profit school, not the local money. School levies are voted on and neighborhood demographics change. You have a choice on where to live and there's a long gap between your kids leaving school and retirement. It's pretty much your choice as to how much your town extracts from you for school money. The only thing I support more than abandoning your local school district is keeping them running cheap and hungry by withholding levy money.
It's not just levy money. That is really an additional 'fund raiser' to enrich the public schools. Property taxes are used for the basis of funding public schools. I believe anyone not having children or sending their children to public schools ought not to pay property taxes. Under the guise of compulsory education, the government has stole our property rights from all of us. We no longer truly own the land we paid for when property taxes we imposed. Consider this. I do not necessarily agree with this, but I do understand the rationale behind it. In terms of this thinking, where does our present situation leave us regarding the vote? GREAT! There will be very nice empty, cheap and equipped buildings for home school co-ops and such to do good with. My wife was previously a public school teacher, resigned years ago, 2 years ago was approached about a teaching at a home school co-op. It has doubled in size in 2 years and has a waiting list.
Bingo. This is the answer. Online schools get the tax money and supply the laptops and remote teachers, the co-op supplies the building. Drop your kid off, they attend their online school, eat lunch, then you pick them up. Use the old teacher-classroom model and the kids are back to getting stuck with disruptive jerks all day.
When she was a public school 1st grade teacher, she did a value added vs non-value added analysis. Presented to the "new" principle, that the practices moving into Common Core were making that even worse (it was already very bad), and showed where they were really only "teaching" about 2 hours / day. The rest was BS, non-value added crap.
Point is, we can blow the doors off of public ed by producing true value added education. They even teach a class on the Constitution at this Co-op. Very cool.
Sad thing is the most vulnerable families will still be stuck depending on these schools for a free education. That there is where the inequality truly will be.
I don’t know how the Democrats don’t see this as a good thing for them. So many people are stuck in a terrible school district and have no other way to educate their children. Democrats are brainwashed by the elite and it’s amazing they go along with it.

Yep, import taxes/tariffs and sales tax on non-essentials. That's it.

They created this and then regretted it. It's almost hilarious if it weren't sad and pathetic.
I still remember them throwing a fit because they weren't able to indoctrinate children.

Great info fren. Worth a post and sticky of its own.

This is such wonderful news to see. Thank you.

I had to teach all of my children math and reading, as well as pretty much anything else.
I'm homeschooling the ones still that age.
Sad thing is the most vulnerable families will still be stuck depending on these schools for a free education. That there is where the inequality truly will be.
We are one of those families. Thank you for recognizing this phenomenon.
My parents sent us to local schools too. It was hard.

the only way to destroy a strong middle class is to get to their kids in school.
think china has pedo story hour ?
My 3 are in a private Christian academy, we will do homeschooling before Public
The gov't school system is child abuse! Change my mind.
That, coupled with people having less children
They wanted it this way.
This is the way.
I prefer government school to public school, but either way:
Good.
