Both. Retail is for owners and investors. Everyone else are tools. Get out and get a real job with real skills. Go to work for yourself and work with winners. Sorry to be frank, but the world isn’t fair and life is a participation sport.
Actually, it does sound like OP has her brain intact and could run the place if she can stand to. Otherwise if pickens are that slim, she might find a higher level job where they will pay more and be glad to have someone coherent and undamaged.
More responsibility more problems. You could use it to land a sweeter gig elsewhere. Mgmt is not for the feint of heart. You have to deal with the crazy customer escalations and babysit employees
My dad was a retail manager for decades until he retired, and he did very well for himself. Retail is a "real job" for many people and it's a shame that anyone who goes to work has to get comments like this.
