I argue with my mom on this issue. We are both Christians.
The difference is that I have a simple moral code that God has given me.
I think a lot of religious people complicate the subject of faith.
My faith resolves around this. It's all I need.
Add in the Golden Rule as well
-
You shall have no other God before me.
-
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images.
-
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
-
Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.
-
Honor your father and mother.
-
Thou shalt not kill.
-
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
-
Thou shalt not steal.
-
Thou shall not bear false witness.
-
You shall not covet.
All the other stuff isn't worth the time to argue about in my view.
Thou shalt not be an asshole...would cover most of those
The devil works off of complication and confusion.
When you complicate your beliefs.
It becomes easy for someone to deceive you.
Truth! And I’ve never heard anyone put it quite like that. Probably because it was simple and to the point. Lol. I grew up listening to people pontificate on all matters of reformed theology and to say that it was and is off putting to this day, would be an understatement. Their over analytical minds did them no favors either during the Covid-19 hoax. 🙄🤷🏼♀️
Undervalued post.
Amen. I agree!
..."The Law" only condemns man and proves the need for a Savior....
...think of it as a mirror which reflects our "dirty faces" back to us....
Howls lol :)
This is it. If mankind would live by these rules, each and every single human being, everything woud be ok. Satan then delivered "Do What Thou Wilt" to mankind, and not just through Aleister Crowley, but much, much earlier. People mostly chose the easy path, not the righteous path. Soon they will learn that this has consequences.
Not to shit on your theory here. But his-stories are written by the winners.....aka Crusades and that shit. "They" needed a reason to invade "heathen" so they could "convert" them...also aka rape the women and kill the men.And steal from them....especially that part. Just sayin
You have 9 too many:
That's good. I agree with you.
As long as your code is simple and universal.
You forgot the most important thing. Jesus Christ died for our sins, therefore, he fulfilled that law. Does it mean that we shouldn’t follow it, but he feel filled the law and sacrifice of his blood. I am grateful. I agree with your comments regarding a moral code.
If i remember correctly, We are told to walk in love, in which all the law was fulfilled.
In my view.
Christ came because God wanted to correct a mistake in human nature.
It is human nature to want to get revenge on people who mistreat you.
180-degree circular wars of fighting each other were common.
Jesus came to let us know. Hating your enemies might feel good because it's in your nature too.
But it will only make things worse.
To stop circular wars.
Someone has to be the bigger person to forgive those that wrong them.
We will always be at war, because Satan rules this world. Until we are rapture, or the return of Christ, there will always be war.
Correct.
Christ just told us to get out of war. We must not want to get revenge.
Vengeance is mine, saith the lord. It’s not healthy to hold, anger, bitterness, and resentment in our hearts.
Which one should we eliminate because it would harm us if we followed it?
Very good!
Well said!
it's a great law, but the weakness is the heart of man. A great change happened when Jesus rose from the dead as a life-giving Spirit. Now, He can supply us with God is, to meet what God demands. "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Gal. 5:25, 22, 23)."
Love it!!
"Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect (Matt. 5:48)." We can't do that without God. We were made as a vessel to contain God.
That Christ may make His home in your hearts (conscience, mind, will, and emotions)...that you may be filled unto all the fullness of God (Eph. 3:17, 19).
My point is that we were created as a vessel. When the content of the vessel is Christ, then we are perfect in his eyes.
They are common sense to me. Common sense is the way to go.
Not following you?
When I say common sense.
When God gave the commandments to Moses. Human beings were a lot more primitive at that time.
God had to give the people something so simple. That anyone can understand it.
Pretty sad that the powers of evil had the world in such a state that God had to tell people to obey these simple guidelines.
Sadder still to think of what the world must have been like for God to have to "test" whether or not Abraham was willing to sacrifice his firstborn. What a terrible world it must have been with false gods running around telling people to sacrifice their children "for the lord."
Man had a knowledge of Good and was deceived into gaining the knowledge of evil, which separated man from God severing communication between man and God. Occasionally a righteous God loving man or woman would come along and God would put Spirit upon them, but not in them as now in we who are born again. God gave us great power.
Praise Jesus!
That's why it's so important to study the various covenants between God and His children.
So many people want to discount our history (or His story) because "that's the wrong testament for my religion."
We do have great power and a responsibility to understand it.
And why isn't anyone keeping these laws?
Because no one is hammering them at home. Most religious people teach scriptures, and quotes and argue over the meaning of the word.
They do not drill the basics into their children.
My dad taught my brother a very simple 10-commandment style of morals.
He hammered them over and over again. Rarely did he go into scripture unless we asked him about it.
None of what you says matter.
Just follow them and move on.
That's it.
How does the devil work? Through DECEPTION, LIES, and manipulation right?
How do you pull this off? By getting people to value things that aren't important like money. By getting people to believe in subjective quotes, stories, and intangibles.
How does the legal system work?
It works by using complicated language and changing definitions. If the language was clear and simple. It would be hard to manipulate someone.
Evil needs complicated and confusing to control people.
A person cannot control me by confusing me with subjective language.
The 10 commandments are easy to understand. The 10 commandments are easy to not confuse with another meaning.
