A few million chickens were killed because of Avian Flu. That does not even make a dent in the total population of egg laying chickens in the US. The issue is more that the wholesalers are not willing to pay the farmers for eggs which cost more to produce due to the increased costs to raise chickens and produce eggs caused by the disastrous Xiden economic policies.
The farmers will cull their flocks and sell the birds for meat, so the price of chicken will drop as the price of eggs rises.
Remember the toilet paper shortage? I had a student in one of classes who had worked at a large store and she told us in class that the employees were told to keep the toilet paper in the warehouse section. Then she put her hand over her mouth because she realized that she was told not to tell anyone.
There was an article that said a dozen eggs was $9 in New York City.
I went to Costco this week and paid $8 for 2 dozen organic eggs. The price is $6 for non-organic. There's more hype and fear peddling than truth to this egg shortage. This is how companies sell doomsday supplies.
I raised chickens while I lived in Mexico for a few years. Once you know the difference between fresh and store-bought eggs, it's hard to ignore. When I noticed a house a few blocks over had a small backyard flock, I got jealous. So when I discussed (announced) the acquisition of a backyard flock with my husband, he ordered a book with simple plans for a chicken hutch. I'm scavenging wood as we speak, and looking forward to the project. We live in a rural town in a red state, so no gov't pushback.
We have too many eggs here so they are marking them way down. They were like 7$ dozen and so people stopped buying them, now the store has a glut and marked them down to 2.99$. Market Basket in NH
Eggs will keep for a very long time, FYI. I did an eggsperiment once with store bought eggs. I put on nitrile gloves and coated the eggs in mineral oil and back in the carton. They sat on my counter for 8 months when I ate the last one. The yolk was runny, but I didn't get salmonella. You can also buy dehydrated eggs as a long term storage item and they aren't half bad.
Have you tried waterglassing eggs? Old time preservation method of pickling lime and water solution. Can't do it with washed eggs (storebought) though. Must be clean(no dirt/poop) and unwashed.
Mark Pukita on Twitter: BREAKING: We have the definitive answer! Simple economics is at play with the price of eggs. The CDC, NIH & FDA are the culprits.
Yeah, I had to read the price tag on the shelf like 4 times to make sure I was reading it right! Lol Still sad that in todays world, 2.99 a doz is good deal.
Everything you buy is so highly priced. I bought a large metal cabinet at the end of the summer and have it packed with food. Whenever I see a sale (coffee, soup, lots of canned food) I buy and put in the cabinet. Same thing with paper goods.
Not including large cities, there is probably dozens of people selling eggs from their chickens. My local supplier has raised the price simply because chicken feed has gone up drastically but even though he continues to sell out every week, we can get the eggs we need. Ask around and find someone in your area.
Yea there’s been an egg shortage. Officially it’s som avian flu killed off a ton of chickens or smth like that. Or could be bunch of people are dying along the supply chain and slowing down production. Who knows. The dark winter is sounding really scary.
Werent some chicken plants among those destroyed by the extremely councidental yet supposedly unrelated plant fires?? Or at least 1. Could that contribute or are those just for the meat?
No bird flu, just the killing of millions of chickens because of "bird flu". Where are the reports of all the dead wild birds where this flu supposedly comes from?

It puts the TP in the warehouse or it gets...
But don't hens stop laying as much in the winter? Why are we surprised?
Because we were always able to buy eggs in the winter before.
I hear that one egg is about 9 USD in the US right now. True? Because that's pretty crazy.

$3.49 a dozen yesterday at Kroger SE MI.

That's great news.

I also heard you can put them in ice trays and freeze them as long as they are out of the shell.
I've never tried that but my wife showed me a video this week of a frozen egg someone peeled and sliced and fried like mini eggs.

No, but I've heard about it. I was surprised I got 8 months from store bought eggs.
Thanks for the FYI.

They've bought up every available egg to smear over their faces as more & more truth about COVID, the vaccine, and vaccine injury comes to light. https://twitter.com/mpukita/status/1614290417398210562?
We have 5. Plenty of eggs. They are now hiding them somewhere.
Not allowed in my town. ;-(
"Skit" means "shit" in Swedish but I'm sure it's a nice pig anyway;-)
Found 2 dozen for $5.98 at Sams Club this morning. Sure miss the days of Trump when I was paying $0.89 a dozen!
Whoa you scored (for today's world).

My wife is doing the same. I miss my garage...
but you won't miss dinner
I have also been taking out cash from the ATM twice a week and put it away.
Yes I am.

Unfortunately, I live in an area where there are no farms now for miles. It has all become suburban.

Yea possibly. There were so many farms and ranches being destroyed last year maybe it’s finally catching up. God help us all
They had the whole egg section filled with yogurt. It was bizarre. I will go to my local Walmart next week and see if they have any eggs.
Groceries have limited two two cartons per person now to avoid hoarding.
Yogurt...Soylent green...same same.

That’s why I said “officially”. We all know what they tell us is not the truth.
ahh, gotcha, but there is no bird flu. Chickens were murdered. No chickens, no work.
We are being punished for ever thinking we are a free people. When this situation resolves itself prayers will be needed for the guilty.
...and rope.
Colorado governor poleass put forth an edict that all chickens in Colorado must roam free to lay eggs and not be caged.
Finding eggs all over Colorado is labor intensive and difficult when it snows.
