Even Canada’s biggest insurance company (and its sister companies) paid ransom a couple times. Which is a huge corporation worldwide you trust with your money.
Laundering isn't the hard part in ransomware. You need something that isn't traceable.
Think about any ransom situation:
Ask for cash, now what? Cash has serial number, soon as you spend it you'll get arrested
Ask for a vehicle to escape, now what? that vehicle could have tracking, someone could follow you and so on.
Ask for a payment to your bank account, boom, your bank freeze your account.
Obviously you want to get paid without having to show your face, and you want your payment to be untraceable. Bitcoin, Monero and similar are the only things that fulfill those requirements.
Don't forget about that time in Canada when the Rogers network went down and the next day Trudeau decided to return the Russian gas turbine he was holding hostage.
Thanks Tuck, i don't care what some same about you. keep at it!
You wouldn’t believe how many ransomeware attack victims pay the ransom

Simplest way to resolve the problem... but unacceptable when it's something like this.
I thought there is a policy never to negotiate with terrorists or to give in to their demands.
That's only if you have backups... spare children... etc.
oh, just in time for the WEF week a cyber attack?
... and combined with digital currency?
Great way to launder money. Was Zelenski running out of cash? 🙄
