I have had a couple of friends attempt to donate blood recently who were turned away because the machines weren’t able to draw from them.
Tubing issues were blamed first.
Eventually, the staff told them they couldn’t donate because the flow was being blocked by clots.
In both arms.
These people are all under the age of 35, by the way. And were under the impression they had no health issues.
I don’t trust anyone with a needle. Sorry, unless it’s for my immediate family, I’m not donating anymore.
agreed. how much of the blood gets used for nefarious purposes?
That and it's given for free and they turn around and charge outrageous amounts for it.
TBF, just because the blood is donated for free doesn't mean the rest of the process is free:
If we want to talk about the administrative overhead of the Red Cross consuming 25% of their donated budget, that's a real issue. But let's understand the service isn't free.
Every charity in the world askes YOU and I to volunteer our time and efforts free of charge, yet no one employed by a charity ever volunteers their time and efforts free of charge.
If it were cash or items, a receipt would be given and it could be written off taxes (or used to). But they take the blood and SELL it!
^^^ THIS. Bad people have been taking advantage of the well-intentioned citizens for years now and it's all coming to light. We donate $ to charities and causes with ZERO visibility into where it goes and how its used. Ditto for the blood drive. We're trying to do good but have NO IDEA where is goes. And recently we hear about those demonic types drinking blood for God's sake! No idea where our blood goes, but they do get our DNA for free.
Back when I was in basic training they had a blood drive bus come and me and 1 other guy didn't give blood. The drill Sgt tried shaming us be we never broke. Saying soldiers are dieing out in the field because of us. That blood drive profits off that blood and I refuse to give for free for them to profit
The only people I trust with needles are tailors and seamstresses.
i don't even trust them to check my temperature anymore!
I’m exactly the same. The only person I’d trust with a needle near me is my husband (he’s a nurse)
