F'd up on so many levels. To keep prices high???? How about keeping prices competitive/reasonable, or feeding families/children in need?? This is Satanic on ever level possible.
The fact that their is a limit on what a farmer who...you know...makes the food that sustains us is absolutely crazy. Especially with all the fucking "supply chain issues"
Yes! There should be ZERO limit in cases such as this.
Quota system. Think Stalinism but instead of working to death to produce more you waste labour and resources to enrich the dairy cartel stakeholders...EI Big Corporate farms.
Stop complying
This. I'd tell them to f*** themselves.
Ridiculous you cannot donate it - this should be criminal
Turn it into cheese! Mozzarella is a quick recipe. Wisconsin dairy farmers did exactly that 2 yrs ago when the same thing happened to them. They refused to dump. A local grocer agreed to purchase the cheese to be sold to customers in bulk. Was the freshest Mozzarella cheese we ever had! We bought 100 lbs and gave to family. Nothing went to waste.
I want that
would need to understand the history behind the price controls but generally it has been done to benefit farmers. I agree it is stupid but it is also stupid for Senators like Grassley to push for clogging fuel injectors with ethanol to benefit US farmers
Also not the first time this shit has happened. Back in the 90s there were several stories of the same thing happening to grain/corn producers. For months the media banged on about hunger in Canada, the lack of sustainable food, etc - only for it to come out that several farmers had barns filled with grain and corn that was just rotting, because it was illegal for them to sell it..
And it was defended by liberals and "conservatives" alike.
It doesn't help farmers though, not even a little bit.
It helped farmers when there was a serious issue - which, if modern history is anything to go by the government probably caused in the first place - which why they took the "deal"(instead of starve). The rest, as they say, is history - and one that every hungry person on earth should regret.
This is also the kind of thing that the term "Government Cheese" came from.
The US took the surplus milk and had it made into barely edible cheese.
It was given out as part of the original welfare programs.
Excess was stored underground, and there's a ton today.
Government intervention is great, and now we have cartels smuggling eggs over the border.
Fucking peak clown world.
It's the dairy cartel in Canada in this case. There are three cartels up here: dairy, maple syrup, telecom.
This is why you should have a gun
In Canada there's what they call the 'milk cartel'. These lobbyists work to put laws in place and elect politicians like Andrew Scheer, a spineless conservative leader, that they can control. True fact: To celebrate his win as leader of the opposition he drank a glass of milk on the stage to signal to everyone how he won.
If you wonder how we got such crappy PMs like Justin Trudeau, this is the reason. Will Pierre Polviere be any different? He talks a good fight but is that all it is? Time will see.
The CPC is just as controlled opposition as McCain and Romney ever were.
The PPC is the only party in Canada that took a stand for Canada, but they were maligned and the usual slander from the media.
And this is why my Walfart had empty milk shelves for a week.
Certainly not like when I worked in the factory. The more I made rate, the more they raised it.
Higher prices means poorer people can't afford one of the most nutritious beverages on the planet.
It also means more tax revenue for the govt since higher purchase prices means higher sales tax.
