Trades are where it's at, just about any job in a construction field will exist for years. That said, there are groups of micro bots capable of building structures in a small scale setting, 3d printing of homes full scale, automatic welders for any prefab needs, and the list goes on. The amount of people working to put blue collar people out of work is astonishing. Now, AI is going to put those people out of work as well. This slippery slope is at a 60° drop.
That's right. An AI won't be able to make Breath of the Wild from scratch.
I'm sure we'll get a fan-made randomizer like all the other Zelda games got, but nothing about the world layout will change--just where treasures and enemies are.
They can't go away because once you cede the ground to AI, AI will write code only the AI and other computer systems can understand. There are numerous examples of AI doing this already.
I'm a professional software developer and have tried ChatGPT in my field. For simple stuff it might be ok. Dig deeper, and it falls short. Most of the times it gave examples of outdated API versions, other times it actually mixed them up. When confronted with this, it said sorry for the confusion and gave me a new code variant that also was not contemporary.
Worthless programming jobs like the ones that were at twitter may be in jeopardy -- but programming jobs aren't really going anywhere.
"Learn to code" was us mocking journalists who were being fired from woke news agencies.
I program and yes, AI is destroying some jobs. I don't hire writers anymore. But there has never been so much opportunity for programmers who know how to work AI ... right now the sun is shining, time to make hay.
Ha! Thank you for this! I was literally logging on to make the same joke more or less but didn’t have a cool meme etc. Well done! I fucking love this. Craziest shit ever.
My favorite is "Learn to coal."

Devil's advocate here: I don't think that programming jobs are completely going away.
After all, the software makers need someone to take the blame if something goes wrong. Can't exactly sure the pants off an AI...

Someone is gonna need to do the debugging to make sure there are zero errors in any Industrial-grade Artificial Intelligence
“Zero errors”. Snerk!

I'm not impressed...

Oh no, robots can weld better than humans!
LOL Learn to program robots!
That would be welding ---- using a robot.
