Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Low conversation on GenChat today. There’s usually much more conversation.
Recently got behind the wheel of a Tesla. Don't buy one. It's like driving a golf cart
Well, you're not really buying a Tesla. You're more like "renting it". You can't do a lot of things that you can with regular cars. And, there's only ONE place to take your Tesla to if you need service.
Apple's walled garden looks like a playground compared to Tesla.
Did anyone get any clarity on the QAgg.news clock countdown site down permanently? WTF happened? Or WTF was the cause and effect? Or just WTF?
Feeling like they are coming at us from all directions right now.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 FBV We are attacked from every direction, but we are not crushed. We are at a loss as to what to do, but never in despair. We are persecuted, but never abandoned by God. We are knocked down, but not dead yet!
Trump is speaking like he did in 2019 about Dems using the Covid mass mail in ballots as a way to cheat. The pattern suggests 2024 will be stolen. I figured it would be part of the precipice. The economy collapses the banks collapse 25% or more unemployment, inflation extremely high. Yet Biden wins a 2nd term. United States is being attacked by foreign countries, China attacking Taiwan, Russia attacking Ukraine. WWW III. And Biden gets in office by stealing again lol.
I bet you that’s part of the plan. I’m calling it now.
Trump truth:
The BOXES HOAX, WHERE I DID NOTHING WRONG, BUT BIDEN DID, IS JUST ANOTHER WAY FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO CHEAT ON ELECTIONS THROUGH, IN THIS CASE, ELECTION INTERFERENCE. I AM COVERED BY THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT AND, UNLIKE BIDEN WHO WAS NOT PRESIDENT, HAVE THE POWER TO DECLASSIFY. MY PEOPLE ARE BEING THREATENED AND HARASSED BY A THUG PROSECUTOR WHO WAS PUT IN BY BIDEN TRUMP HATERS. OUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS CORRUPT, AND THE DEMOCRATS ARE USING IT TO RIGG THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. WAY UP IN POLLS!
I'm considering the Carnivore Diet mainly for weight loss. I've seen a few people comment here they were doing this or had done it for a bit. If you are doing this I'd appreciate any advice and helpful links. I can research. I'm asking because there's so much bad information online by so called experts it's hard to weed through the legit information. Also, has eating this way helped sugar cravings? Thanks
Check Facebook groups for carnivore to see people discussing it. Also reddit has a carnivore sub.
Try it for a month or more. It can’t hurt. I’ve done it for a few months. One thing is you have to make sure you’re eating plenty of fat. I didn’t cut carbs completely, I still drank milk. I ate no other sugars though. I had cravings for things occasionally but I would just replace it with eating a nice fatty cut of meat and some butter. Sugar cravings went away after a couple weeks.
Check out this book. https://www.amazon.com/Carnivore-Code-Unlocking-Returning-Ancestral/dp/035846997X
I’ve heard it is the best. If you’d like, DM me I have a copy I can give away.
No doctor or nutrition expert but I think the keto diet was all protein and caused kidney problems, I'm sure somebody here knows more about it than me.
Adkins had issues too... exercise (cardio) is an easier path to weight loss. burn more calories, have less time to sit around and eat. Your body will crave protein to rebuild the muscles but carbs for fuel during exercise, you will drink more water which will help flush soluble fats out of your system.
Yes Adkins diet, was the one I meant, thankyou for the info
I haven’t heard this. People are still doing Keto with no problems.
It was my mistake , I should have said Adkins diet.
Seems like I remember hearing this also. Didn't remember until you mentioned it. Thanks
I dont do carnivore diet, but I cut out sugars and reduced carbs to less than a third of each meal, and I make sure there is atleast 14 hours between last meal of the day and first meal next day.
After a couple weeks, I started noticing I didnt have as much sugar cravings. I always used to be a sweet tooth, and it was surprising. Now I pretty much find the sweet stuff I used to eat extremely sweet and dont really care of them. I have taken a liking to dark chocolate - something I could never eat earlier.
I think all our sugar cravings are a function our insulin dependance. Not only do I dont crave for sugar, I also feel full with one or two moderate meals a day and dont feel like forcing myself to eat more.
Thanks for sharing what works for you. I ate as you described years ago and successfully lost weight and kept it off many years. I've always loved sweets maybe because my grandma was such a great cook. Some periods in my life I've had an issue with binging sweets and had it under control at least twelve years. I'm thinking it's mostly hormone related and a little bit emotional from the last three years. I did so good in January, went six weeks without anything sweet. Then I got sick (see my post if interested) recovering at home it's been hard to eat healthy. Hopefully will get back on the wagon cooking and planning. I most definitely need to get myself used to fasting especially at night. I know that's a key good sleep, weight loss/maintenance and general good health. Thanks I appreciate the reminder.
I tried this a while ago before ChatGPT4 was released and it was extremely effective. Part of me thinks that the ChatGPT4 was introduced to stop this.
Hey , I'm trying to find a video article about Disney and some scientists designing with gene splicing , child actors. That I saw here, Anyone? Thanks
