Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
About out to all my GAW frens! Just wanted y'all to know how much I appreciate y'all!
There's no such thing as a dumb/stupid question. Now, there are dumb/stupid people who ask questions, but that's different. Feel free to ask away. And btw, Welcome Home and Semper Fi, Marine. We'll give you guys a ride anytime....the problem is, we never come and pick you up 😁
Little triangles up or down with a number in between.
For those of us who love doggos, and appreciate our service members, current and past… and have Instagram (I have it for showing off my veggies and following other homesteaders) - I want to introduce you to two accounts:
@dixietheprayingdog @frozentrident
Dixie is a military support dog, and Jeff Read, a former Navy Seal who owns Frozen Trident kennel is an up and coming Alaskan musher. He has a very interesting story about rescuing a doggo from Iraq - “Frank the Tank”.
Give them some love, and heal your heart while watching their videos :-)
I followed them on Instagram! Really cute videos.
I’m a pet sitter, I come in contact with many different breeds of animals. Mostly dogs and cats, but all different breeds. I have to pinch myself each day, because I have the best job in the world. It’s awesome!
Aside from veggie photos and cute baby goats, these two accounts are why I love social media.
Got three little Chihuahuas. One's 14, the other 11 and we just got a new one, about four months old. I am going to be a flipping wreck when the oldest one's time comes. Dogs are man's best friend for a reason.
Just know that your older doggos, as their lives come to an end, will always treasure the time they had with you 😍😍😍🥰🙏🌈
Thanks for the kind words. I always tell people that the best years of our lives are the ones we spend with dogs.
If only our best friends lived as long as we do! 😍
It really doesn’t seem fair that we don’t have the same longevity timeline. I mean really, they are family!
I lost my 150lb full German Rotweiler to a brain tumor, he was my best friend for over nine years and I raised him from a two month old fluffball. The kid went everywhere with me, bite of everything I eat, dog park, camping trips, jobsites... the whole 9 yards. I'm tearing up just reflecting. I've always been a bit of a dog snob, male purebred, 2 months old yade yadi...
The scamdemic hits and I'm lonely missing my best friend of 9 years so I start looking around and find somewhere selling purebred rotties. They tell me it's a $700 deposit but I can't meet the puppy of my choice because of covid... I'm not dropping $1,400 on a puppy that I haven't met and don't know where he is. Totally a scam in speculation.
My family used to rescue Rottweilers growing up so I decided that maybe a rescue is a better route... love the breed.
I end up on a Rottie rescue page somehow and find out someone surrendered a half Rottweiler half German Shepard mutt. Chained to a tree the first 9 months of his life then was so unsocialized he didn't get adopted from from his shelter because of it... these ladies at a different shelter grab him a day before they're gonna euthanize him. Sat there a month before I found their ad. We talk and they agree that I'm about the only person they've met capable of handling this 100lb mutt.
I was hesitant but end up wrestling him into my truck like a feral coyote and took him home. He'd never been indoors, never had toys, treats... nothing. He has never chewed or messed in my house. I've never met a dog so loyal, obedient and intelligent. He just turned 2 and he's the best dog I could have asked for. I don't think I'll ever buy a purebred again.

I don't know who saved who... I wonder how many of those poor dogs Biden left to die in kennels in Afghanistan would have been a loyal companion like this kid.
Love the pic of your precious pup!
You are filling my heart with all love and joy only a doggo person can. Thank you for giving your precious new family member his forever home :-) And I know he has made you completely feel love too!
I love the picture! Looks like you have a new best friend. Great job on giving love to a deserving animal that nobody else wanted. I do pet sitting, and I specialize in aggressive dogs and pit bulls. They really are sweet dogs, given the attention and the discipline they need. Congrats.!
Oh gosh what a beautiful baby. I’m a dog person, have been all my life. My daddy saw to that. At one point, I had 8 rescues of different breeds. I’m down to two and a cat. I have the geriatric group. Ages 16 and 15. The cat is 13. I cannot imagine life without one or 8 to love and care for.
He's a handsome kid for sure and really just needed some love and attention. He's really just Sheppard Rotweiler but looks like a hound for some odd reason. My grandmother raised me and was the biggest animal lover on earth. I still feed the birds and take care of women, children and other creatures because of my upbringing.
We had Spud growing up, quite possibly the ugliest dog ever. Mangy little mutt with wirey hair, 20lbs... geriatric little kid lived to 17. I miss that dog. I think Mark Twain said it best, "The more people I meet the more I like my dog".
I'm starting a dog rescue if I ever make something of myself in this lifetime.
I think he is beautiful but he does favor a hound. My daddy was a rescuer of strays growing up, he even brought home a goat one time. My grandpa asked where he got the goat, and he told him it standing in the road, so he brought it home. Every dog and cat I’ve had have come to me, I didn’t go looking for them. I always said that I reckon God gave me what needed my love and care. The two dogs I have remaining, the 16 year old is a beagle daschund mix. The 15 year old is a black lab. My daughter brought home the beagle mix from her Daddy’s house when he was 5 weeks old. He was the last left in a litter and they were going to take him to the pound. The lab just showed up inside my fence. Looked out one Sunday morning and there she was standing near the door at the garage. No clue where she came from. Vet said she was about 7 weeks old. I used to work for a rescue on the weekends, until I felt that I had become a rescue of my own and my spare time needed to be home with my own babies. I always say that I love dogs more than people. Life would be tough without them.
Beautiful experience and story. Thank you for sharing
Been listening to "Earth Chronicles" today. Not one of the regular Badlands that I tune in to, but finding it pretty interesting.
Badlands got so much stuff. I wanna see a page where you can browse their programs like a catalogue. The Rumble presentations don't really help you choose what to tune in to, imo.
Question: Whatever happened to Rob Rosenstein? Did he make it to Gitmo? Havent' heard about him in a while. Keeping a low profile and his mouth shut I suppose.
Do you mean Rod Rosenstein?
He resigned a while ago. He's been doing some interviews here and there though. Doubt he's going to Gitmo for any reason
He is as guilty as the rest for when he worked under Jeff Sessions. He also was in on the Steele Dossier. He is just laying low for a time I believe. But the truth will catch up with him.
Mm probably not. People have been saying that about a lot of politicians for years and then they live their regular lives until they die of old age and nobody is the wiser
I used to think wristwatches were obsolete in the age of smartphones.
And then, earlier today, it dawned on me what that logic was.
"Why carry something just to check the time? Check your global tracking beacon."
I like a good, old school wrist watch. I hate smart watches. Absolutely hate. It’s like the universal sign you’re addicted completely to tech and social media and it will be difficult in conversation or in any activity to pry you away from your carefully curated fake online life. And people who wear them think all the health monitoring is for their own personal benefit. No...nope, never.
To be fair lots of people use them for fitness.
Decent heart rate monitor and sleep monitor.
I feel the same.
Wasn’t interested then, not interested now. Too much texture. When I shop for clothing, the first thing I do is feel the fabric. That’s how I find clothes that I like. Look for the color, then I feel the fabric. Corduroys to rippley- lol.
Oh man, I had a pair of corduroy maternity pants when I was pregnant with my now almost 14 year old. They were so comfortable, and I'm pretty sure I kept wearing them after she was born until they worse out. I had forgotten all about them.
It's coming back around. I see it a lot in jackets, especially up in Chicago
I have two flannel lined corduroy light jackets, one navy and one rust, I wear them a lot!
Bonjour bonjour! 🤗
Guess what? My messenger from yesterday is back under a new nick and also narrative:
Just go to patriots.win and leave grownups to the GreatAwakening…
Aha. So there is a new one to have to deport? Asking for self and friend.
Not really, that one was almost friendly. I may have caught a joker who now seeks to redeem himself.
Send him to Jesus. He can redeem himself with him. That may be who he is searching for.
I am sitting here watching I Robot when Will Smith mentions Ghosts In The Machine. My mind is blown by this. I start to think of Elon Musk warning of AI getting out of control. Then I wonder if the globalist have an Army of robots ? Why did Obama buy all those weapons and ammo ?
The robots are the NPC normies who have been programmed by the M5M narrative these past few decades.
Anons are the Ghosts in the Machine who are slowly but surely awakening the sleeping normies.
