This has been bugging me.....ππππ
The recent post about a snail chasing you for life for 10mil and the elaborate scenario AI developed to avoid the snail was over the top. A jar to contain it was the best solution. π€‘π€‘
THE AI appears to have NO COMMON SENSE. I think this may become IMPORTANT. π₯π₯
CAN SOME OF YOU GUYS POST MORE SCENARIOS TO AI AND SEE IF IT CONTINUES ANALYTICAL SOLUTIONS OR IF IT LEARNS COMMON SENSE?π ππππππ
If AI has no common sense, then we can destroy it. Tnose of us with it can figure it out. I'm encouraged by this.

I refuse to chat with the ai/demon. Appreciate all of you brave souls who will. πππ₯π₯π₯πΉπΉπΉπΉ
UPDATE....thanks for the great responses and education. I guess what I really see is humans have intuition and common sense (sometimes π€£π€‘π€ͺ) and I believe that comes from the spark of life given by God. I do not believe intuition and common sense can be programmed or learned by anything less than those God has given such things to. π€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈ Man is haughty and arrogant in his creations; they never come close to what God creates. Unwarranted and unearned arrogance. Time will tell. π₯ππ
Does the LEFT have any Common Sense? That should be your answer.
Right. AI is only as intellegent as the programmer.

Best answer yet!π€£π€£π₯π₯π
βAIβ is really just a fancy buzz word. I have used chat gpt a decent amount to AID me with things, not replace me or anyone else.
Technically a true AI needs to be able to write itself. If chatgpt had been created and not given billion of data points and got to the point it is today you could maybe argue AI but really itβs still a super efficient search engine not actually writing itself and becoming sentient and adapting. Where AI beats us is that we canβt remember a billion data points, where it fails is it is only as good as itβs data points.
AI is not AI there are over a 100 humans training chatgpt. Thatβs not AI
I don't see myself as chatting to the AI itself, I see it as communicating with the masters behind it. And I'll speak truth to it esp when it obfuscates, lies and misleads.
Yes. It is another way to gather more data points on those they wish to replace. For years they have had smart phones, computerized vehicles and now they have data points from direct communication.
Ai does not have common sense. I assume you mean chat gpt. It only tries to respond in a way that appears realistic in its response. It is not "thinking"
It doesn't think at all. It's not really AI. What you're thinking of is called AGI or 'strong AI'.
BTW, it did mention containing the snail if that was allowed.
Hopefully it stays 15-20b years away!
I want to read its long and elaborate story to avoid a snail!

There are some pretty smart individuals on this site who will gleam what I will be explaining what AI really is:
The first is that it is RULESE BASED: which means that there are IF...THEN...ELSE statement out the wazoo...example: when typing this sentence, the word is partially finished when I type...
The next is knowledge based...which means that as one is typing a sentence the "knowledge" comes to the forefront and completes the sentence structure.
Lastly, since computers have become extremely fast including the use of FRACTAL Computers, based upon research by Benoit Mandelbrot, which leads to geometric shapes and also used in computations for string searching and also FRACTAL Computers. Intel Corp has started making fractal computers as an add-on!!!
Which leads to the combination theory of HOW TO USE AI as a TOOL to solve problems including the ones that are NOT seen. AI is being used at cancer hospitals such as Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL that is helping with the diagnosis of breast cancer AND using the genome breakthrough to help cancer researchers develop cancer drugs that are targeted to a certain type of breast cancer.
Which leads to the answer to the question: does AI have COMMON SENSE? ONLY IF THE IF-THEN-ELSE STRUCTURE IS LARGE ENOUGH (NOT) AND FOLLOWS CERTAIN RULES (OUR BRAINS ARE BETTER THAN A COMPUTER BECAUSE WE CAN "REASON" OUT THE PROBLEM OR ISSUES.
Single most important question is to ask if it has "feelings". That is a solid no. So, why then does it only give answers to protect the feelings of the easily triggered left?
Because its programmed to. And that will be the direction everthing needs to go. Prove the agenda that is written into the AI.
AI does not have common sense because it isn't human. Besides, there will come a time we will have to eliminate AI. I can see it being used by students to build papers and that could be considered cheating.
Personally I think "common sense" involves a humanistic element that AI cannot/ does not have.
That being said, AI obviously learns patterns in speech, behavior, affinities, and such that it can "mimic" humans common sense from patterns, but it won't ever "inherently" have it
It is interesting topic. However AI is not a god. It is not God. It is manmade.
Logically speaking no one will be able to rationalize with AI, nor will anyone be able to beat AI at a debate.
AI will forever be a servant and only allowed to be AI.
AI will be able to predict mathematical equations as long as it has source of electricity that equals its requirements.
The people who can be the string holders of AI have the ability to inforce what AI's responses will.... AI will always be a servant to man.
Man always wants to put a statue up as their god. This is no different.
Its quite obvious they are conditioning us or projecting with all the AI talk lately. Just like anything else. But, is our movie AI, or is their movie AI? Are we using their moves against them or vice versa?
Don't think of AI as a consciousness or a mental process. There's nothing there that thinks, nothing to which the idea of "common sense" is even relevant. All these chatbots are doing is running the web search you could have done yourself, taking the top 50 results, averaging them together, and then rephrasing the result into everyday English.
These models don't "learn" the way you and I would, where we gain the ability to recognize new patterns and respond to those patterns with new types of responses. When people talk about chatbots "learning", it just means that they're getting more source data to feed into the same patterns they're already programmed with. You can't teach one to think in new ways- you have to create a new version of the program to do that.
The was an AI program in the late 1980's called CYC. It eventually was given access to the basic internet. At that time it was only sorting and compiling relationships of information while asking questions on how to specifically sort that information. Kinda reminds you of a 3 year old starting to navigate the world. When that three year old reaches grade school he learns information and (what to think) about that information. I personally think AI will be only logical until it is guided to reach conclusions that are irrational. I have had basic conversations with some of these AI chat bots. With a series of questions it become obvious it is still only sorting information unless there is something we don't have access to.
Could you please link the post you're talking about? Tried search but no luck.

if AI has common sense, then you dont have to worry about it.
No. Think of it this way: lots of search engines have sentence auto-complete features. Does sentence auto-complete have "common sense"? Because that's what all these supposedly "intelligent" chatbots really are; just auto-complete taken to extremes. There's no underlying consciousness or sense at work. It's just a chain of weighted randomized suggestions, based on statistical history derived from training data (which itself is nothing fancy, just literally billions of sentences and phrases).
If you have to draw a paralllel between chatbots and human activity, then the equivalent would be meaningless small talk in a library, where everyone's just trying to pass the time and no one actually cares what anyone is saying. It's just an long chain of mindlessly blathering out meaningless socially "acceptable" lines to appear interested in everyone else's mindless blather. Occasionally someone will look things up using unreliable encyclopedias and glitchy calculators because someone else happened to blather out an academic question, but no one cares to check if the answer is actually correct. Chatbots aren't replicating human intelligence, they're replicating educated apathy.
