Not sure if this is the right one, but Q has intimated that people DO run because they think it's a cover that will protect them from prosecution, that they can hide behind "political attacks" accusations.
I believe this is the correct answer. Does anyone remember 2015-2016? There were something like 12 candidates running for the GOP nomination. Most were trying to dilute the support for Trump.

The average television viewer can't even be bothered to ask "What if Trump actually called for an insurrection"? If a bunch of unarmed, unguided patriots can cause an "insurrection" simply by peaceably milling around the Capitol for a few hours, what on earth would it have looked like if Trump directed them towards an objective?

2nd Amendment comes to mind; A well regulated militia...
This is the Citizens rising up to form their own militia groups.
Remember how Liz Warren watered down the votes on Bernie Sanders in the DNC primaries? And then the nomination went to Biden who was behind both of them! Bernie had it before they manipulated the votes because Bernie was not 'their' chosen candidate! Selected = not Elected! Yeah, same thing here.
But at least we get to see all the RINOs mega donor supporters and the big corporation globalists! Remember, when they're exposed; GO WOKE = GO BROKE!
I have no sympathy for Bernie himself as he did nothing to stand up to the party or call out the fraud. However a lot of his voters really thought he was against the establishment and got screwed out of their vote, as misguided as it was.
That'll be the deciding factor for a lot of independents; RFK clearly went to that spiritually dark place where he was willing to imprison a person who disagreed with him.
There's a huge potential for RFK to own the wrongness of that comment and turn it into a teaching moment for all the liberals that went full Nazi these recent years. Forgiveness is important for us to be able to unite as a country.
It's impossible for me to imagine that healing the spiritually broken left isn't part of the plan. RFK, Adams, Kirsch and others are mapping out their pathway to redemption.

Lastly, even from prison, Trump will dominate and in fact, it might make him even more popular. I can’t imagine him going to jail as that proves ROL as dead and if he does, I think Americans might finally let their voices be heard. You can’t vote manipulate a hot fight.

There's a few more mundane reasons. Money from private donors who want to dilute the conservative vote probably is the driving force.
Kind of a moot point because if they threw Trump in prison it would be either RFK Jr. or DeSantis. Wouldn't help those sideshow Republicans much.
