This is a stupid take. Just because instruments detected the implosion over the weekend doesn't mean they had finished analyzing that data. Even if they had, they wouldn't know the implosion was from this sub and would have kept searching and hoping until hope was completely lost.

The Feds don't need to stage false flags as distractions if they can control the news. There are so many people doing crazy things all the time, all it takes is selective hype of a story that will take days to sort out. We could test this theory by collecting such stories and seeing how coverage correlates with other stories that would be buried by competing news.
