Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Reposting this question, since it was not answered yesterday... I have volunteered to bring a bluetooth speaker to the local 4th of July parade and have it play so many songs from my smartphone. Which Patriotic songs I should put onto the play list?
I aim to have about 2-3 hours worth of songs (although I am not sure if the parade's gonna take that long). This is also a normie parade where I will be in person, so nothing Q related nor anything out of the ordinary...
A very distant cousin now departed awhile ago , George M Cohan, wrote a great song called "You're A Grand Old Flag" yes, I am related somehow to him, his mother was a sister to a great grandmother or great great, somewhere along the Irish American web of cousins one acquires-https://youtu.be/vsv8LF8y9Uk
You gotta have a little CCR. This song right here can bring out the Red, White and Blue in anyone! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ec0XKhAHR5I
And this one here which was the first post I ever made on GAW. This song speaks volumes and all people like Elvis.

Not sure if you are playing during the parade or at a corresponding event where people mingle.
I am going to be one of the people marching inside the parade, not be one of the watchers to the side.
Gotta have the battle hymn. Here's a couple versions that might be good for a crowd: https://youtu.be/Jy6AOGRsR80

This version doesn't suit your purpose but hit me right in the feelz, figured others here would appreciate it: https://youtu.be/Ai3_pTg560U
Armed Forces medley is always appropriate: https://youtu.be/llT5iyA_zUA
Couldn't find a decent Space Force instrumental. Here's one with vocals: https://youtu.be/zSV3Q4ztGaA
Keep in mind that you'll want to use an ad-blocker if streaming these from YT.
Do a search on patriotic songs on Google, or… Perhaps you could ask AI they might give you an extensive list. It would be an experiment.
You could also do a search on Pandora, and they may already have a patriotic playlist
Some good suggestions already by u/GodBlessAmerica58
A song that many Americans need to hear is "I'll Grow My Own" by Chris Cagle
God Bless America is another good one
Thank You Military is a great song that is sung each year at a local "Hope of America" program in Utah.
Yours as well.
