I'd like to see the impact on the emigration numbers out of El Salvador into the US. It would be a tell-tale on how many are doing so to escape violence (asylum seeking) and how many are for economic reasons.
It's a good question, I do know the immigration numbers (ex-pats) are way for a couple of years now for obvious reasons. Bukele is now even witholding business taxation on foreign residents starting up businesses in ES.
But yeah the emigration numbers have to be down, maybe they're mostly bad hombres escaping imprisonment. In theory the economic up-turn and ongoing investments in the country should be encouraging to regular middle and lower class citizens to stick around, instead of illegally look for a fabled better life.
Lots of lefties surprised that El Salvador has not collapsed with "bitcoin" as they were told it would!
NYT headline: El Salvador destroyed its gangs, but at what cost?
MSN: Crime plummets in El Salvador, but at a cost of human rights as MS-13 gang members and their innocent families are locked up without trial.
Like wtf is with these headlines.

More examples:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/may/16/how-two-colombians-were-ensnared-in-bukeles-gang-crackdown-in-el-salvador
Constantly on the sound of gangs and their attempted go-betweens.
Lol, from the same people who
called j6 a "riot" and praised them being locked up without a trial;
Called un-jabbed to be locked up without a trial
YOU CAN'T GET ANY MORE HYPOCRITE THAN THAT
CAN YOU
how do they know "thousands of innocent people are being caught up in gang crackdown", if there hasn't been any trials?
yeah, i guess our J6'ers aren't worth what the families of MS-13 are? i hope the MSM goes down in flames.
If same thing was done here , some people would scream "racism'.
And its both laughable and sad that Mexico and other central American countries are not following ES' lead on this. Of course, reasons.

Bitcoin fixed this.
