Louisiana here: my daughter told me that she watched a fire start. it was right by the train tracks. Are trains causing some of these fires?
Did she say how it started? What exactly did she see?
Well, she was holding a zippo and some old newspaper and it was bright orangish red... /s but really, she see anything?
She says that literally all she saw was fire between hwy 165 and railroad tracks.
Trains do start quite a few fires. Sparks from the tracks/wheels.
St. Mary Parish had grass fires earlier that they put out, also near tracks 🤔 we also had a train derailment this past week caused by an out of state big rig that went off his route and got stuck on the tracks..
Yes because when I think Louisiana I immediately think wildfire
I'm sure it's just a coincidence with Maui...and Canada...
Is Louisiana having a drought?
I mean, it's hot there, sure, but "dry" isn't in the top 100 words I'd use to describe that state. Hell half of it is below seal level.
Just looked it up. 61 inches of rain a year and there's a river near by. It's a village of a little over 1000 people. I am betting there are wells.
Exactly my point, Santa! (BTW can I have a new Republic for Christmas? Thanks! :)
I feel they are screwing with our weather at the moment...it usually is NEVER this dry! Humidity has disappeared over the past week for sure. Also had a fire in St. Mary Parish earlier that they put out...Also in an area near the tracks 🤔
Here's another article, there's also a water shortage because the water lines were affected by the fire, they are asking people to conserve water -

Apologies for a question that may sound dumb, but: how does a water line get stopped by a fire? It seems like it would be the least flammable thing around.
Possibly pumping stations that depend on electricity, and the power supply is interrupted. This is a weak link in the water supply in many situations.
Ah, that makes sense. Thank you.
🙏
So, what's there that they want or are trying to cover up?
