Facebook doesn't have more users. It never removes old accounts...ever. FB connects accounts to phones, get a new phone, lose access to account, create new account. There are likely more inactive accounts on FB than active but they fraudulently report them all as users. I actually believe it is by design so they can report constant increase of accounts to stockholders.
I know of several friends who still have face book accounts yet they have passed away. I believe there must be thousands of those kinds of accounts if I know of at least three.
I think there's significantly more inactive accounts then active.
Agreed. Truth here.
My dear nephew passed away and his account is still up on FB, I have kept all of our direct messages saved, it is a way to "visit" with him, and read his words and thoughts now that he is gone, Its like saving old letters or photos from a dear one.
I had a friend who died. Her Facebook is still active for sure. Not actively posting, mind you, beyond a post left by her family. But certainly counted on stats.
I am sorry for all your losses but if people in graveyards can still vote they might as well have a FB account as well :P
Exactly!
Facebook does. It relies on people deactivating their account if they don’t want to use Facebook anymore. Twitter still preserves all its banned accounts, they are put into read-only mode and can still vote in polls. Think of all the same people who’ve had to make multiple accounts on Twitter too. Twitter doesn’t remove all its inactive accounts, I have one - just can’t get into it because I don’t have access to that phone anymore.
People on FB are mostly talking about their kids and grandkids anymore. It's not the political platform it used to be at least with the people I know on there. Twitter is where people really get political. More anonymous people on Twitter for me too.
Mine was locked years ago, before they started requiring phone or other stuff to tie in. I went to delete it, and the only way I can is to scan in my driver's license, tie it to my phone, an independent email, and my physical address.
Even just to delete the old account.
By FB, my acct. Is frozen as is forever.
