The Irish are pretty fed up. Their women and children are constantly being attacked by immigrants and there is no government help. The men have been organizing for about a year. They are going to fight back where no one else in Europe has the cojones. Yup - the English have a long history of dealing with Irish rage when they are pushed too far. This may be just getting started.

Open season is genuinely bad. Good people always get caught up in the crossfire, and the people winning lose support -- which matters.
Also open season is terrible due to how many people will use it to settle private disputes or worse.
That's just it though, they are ways to achieve goals that don't really require support beyond the group that shares your goals. Depending what the goal is and your method of achieving it they might not really be able to stop you even if you've pissed off enough people so badly that they demand action be taken.
If you turn people who are just as armed and capable as you against yourselves, you won't win because every battle you fight will sway more against you.
It's exactly what they are presently doing to us, so when the good guys become the bad guys -- which ALWAYS happens when things are "open season" -- we lose.
This is why things must be done right.
Why do drug cartels continue to exist in Mexico then? The Mexican army easily outguns any one of them.
So clearly it's possible to be very violent and continue to exist, so if your goal can be achieved by violence and you're not directly attacking powerful interests within the Mexican government, you'll be fine. If some entity wanted to stop illegal immigration and started paying cartels to ambush immigrants and send the message the border is closed, who is going to stop that? Think George Soros is going to fund paramilitaries to attack the Jalisco cartel? Do you think George or his kids would live very long if he did?
Perhaps if something particularly heinous happens in some rural place you'd see a limited local response to it, but I doubt you'll see it spread beyond that.
Gotta love the Irish- they'll fight if they are pushed...and sometimes they'll fight just to fight.

From an economic perspective demand destruction is the surest way to end this sort of a crisis. If you make your country exponentially more dangerous to migrants than the places they are fleeing or the places they are transiting through to get to you, they're not going to come to your Country.
Oof. While the Irish didn't invent the Molotov Cocktail, they're a pretty dab hand at using them. I don't think the immigrants know who they're pissing off, given the IRA was a pretty hardcore group.
