I'm willing to consider he's just taking advantage of our situation, but it sure seems like he's more liberty-minded than most of those in power in the U.S.
It is indeed beneficial to make friends with the people who don't want to destroy you than the people who do.
Under Trump, we weren't pushing nearly as hard against Russia as we were under Obama and the Usurper.
The damage we've done to Russia with only a brief respite from Trump (who remained firm, but not aggressive) is palpable.
Russia is a very Christian traditionalist country with a rich history (some of that history is not so positive, ahem communism) so from that point of view it makes sense to want to preserve those traditions in the face of those who would destroy them.
I won't pretend to know Putin's agenda, but the fact remains that even if he is taking advantage or pretending, that our own representatives can't even do that shows how much worse they are than Putin.
He's talkin' up a really good campaign. He might have been a party member but the more I hear from him the more I like this version of Vlady. He can't be all bad he likes hockey.
The girl I work with is from Russia. She came here in 2008 and became a citizen. I sent this to her to translate to make sure that is what he's saying.
He is saying what has been translated correctly. However. Keep in mind. He says Trumps persecution for political motives. He did exactly the same to his opponent, Alexey Navalniy, who actually disappeared from prison and many think Putin ordered to kill him. So putin cannot be put above American "democracy". He is not better and it is not for him to judge American politic swamp while sitting in his own swamp and doing exactly the same.
it is not for him to judge American politic swamp while sitting in his own swamp and doing exactly the same.
I definitely disagree with her here though. People can judge, and should judge. We are supposed to be the leaders of the free world. We took that mantle upon ourselves and yet as a country did not maintain it, though instead use it as a weapon.
We judge everyone else for their stuff, they can judge us back. They are free to do so.
Just because he's guilty of the same thing (assuming he is) doesn't make him wrong for recognizing it in our politics.
Plus, I think it's a little bit disingenuous to treat Putin, who grew up in and was part of the Soviet government, as if he's the leader of a long democratic tradition. He's one of the couple first Russian leaders to be elected rather than appointed by the party. I don't expect Russia to get democracy 100% right, right out of the gate. God knows we screw it up and we've had almost a quarter millenia of practice, plus the benefit of England giving us a model to build on.
Solid point. He was also correct in his criticism of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, that it made Russia weaker on the global stage and we have done nothing but exploit them for the crimes committed by a dissolved government structure.
I lived in another country for several years. I always found it amusing (if not irritating) when people would ask me what it was like, and then tell me I was wrong and lying about my experience because it differed from the MSM narrative.
Yeah, that may be true, but while one can think it is hypocritical which is a different issue, saying it's "not for him to do" is presumptuous as well.
I am choosing to return to the good old days, where freedom of speech is not just a right protected by the Constitution, but a virtue of the American people which means I advocate for it even where it is not illegally suppressed.
That means I support Putin exercising his right to judge the government occupying the states, and I judge him right back for being hypocritical.
Well, I mean, how many people live in America who do not know what is going on in America?
The translation check is very good practice. thank you. But her opinion is her opinion, and there are a LOT of normies out there, Trump supporters included.
ICYMI I work with a girl from Russia. She came here on 2008 and she became a citizen the legal way. I asked her if what Putin is saying is correct in the translation.
Her comment.

Public sauce that confirms the translation of this clip
It's PBS, so I think we can be confident the translation is accurate. MSM may be scum, but they operate in a world where reputation is important, and a fake or false translation would get pointed out very quickly, and they would get burned as a result.
(Note: MSM will definitely distort, twist, manipulate facts for their propaganda purposes, but a mistranslation would a a glaring booboo.)
Putin is more pro democracy than those who call themselves democrats
Because he's Christian

No matter what is said about the guy, he is a force for good

And?.....π

Not sure why you got downvoted.

That is her opinion. She lived there until her 20's. Her entire family is there.

Her family and her lived in communist Russia.
She is is not a dumb person and has way more patriotism in this country than our own people.
She has very interesting stories.

But he's still right.
Also keep in mind her entire family lives there still so she knows what's going on. She is conservative and a Trump fan.
Well, I mean, how many people live in America who do not know what is going on in America?

Somebody please make a meme with this quote and a photo of Vlad
Democrat voters suffer the most from mass formation psychosis.
