Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Question
Why was the requirement of going to heaven "you have to believe in me" ?
At the time did people not believe in him? Even after he walked on water?
Not everyone saw him walk on water. The Jews at that time were looking for a leader to save them from the Roman occupation, the prophets of Old Testament spoke of a Messiah to come. The prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus, but since he was not a warrior, since he broke a lot of rules of the leading Jews as far as doctrine, but continued to not break Roman law, they would not accept him as Messiah. So, no, people did not believe in him, except of course those that did, and many paid the price for that belief.
Some people, like young children, don’t know they believe. These people are touched by every blessing and crave the Lord’s Grace instinctively, unlike some OCD Jesus-pounder who tries to force everyone to embrace their sorry vision of the Christ…
Just be the example people will enjoy following.🙏🏻
It is remarkable how often this happens. Parents will enroll their children in a private Christian school but not attend services, while the children crave to go. The desire just comes naturally to the children.
I believe those parents are putting their kids in Christian schools because they seek for them to learn moral values, not necessarily become a Christian, as well as being in a safe environment. Growing up in the 70s most middle class white kids in my area went to private schools. Private schools popped up because of the violence in schools. That was right after blacks and whites went to school together.
I’m not saying I believe we should not go to school together! Even though there are cultural differences we should know and accept each other as fellow humans
I begged to go to the public high school in town when I was in high school and my parents would not hear it. In their minds I was safe not because it was all white but because it was a small school and the parents and teachers new each other. Private schools started to decline in the late 90s. Christian and charter schools started popping up. We tried private school but they couldn’t compete with the public schools education. That was twenty years ago. Even back in the 70s I believe the teachers in public schools had morals. Fast forward to having a grandchild. She will be homeschooled.
Because it is a litmus test. One who believes or attempts to believe is willing to be as a child and have pure faith. It is a willing and courageous sacrifice of the false wisdom attained from the tree and an oath that you are willing to purge the cynicism of false reason and carry your own cross as He did.
Therefore, that is all it takes. Like Q, you either wake up or you are 4-6% and doomed. It would be so much easier for normies to wake up but they think it is stupid just like atheists will laugh about sky daddy and think they are so smart.
Jesus = Door to Heaven.
Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Therefore, we know God is righteous, and there is no other way to Heaven except through Jesus.
Jesus == The Truth, True Love and Real Life rather than lies, hate and death.
One does not need to know words or names in order to recognize and choose The Truth, True Love and Real Life rather than death.
Children can do it. Dogs are famously able to do it.
Not knowing His name =/= not knowing Him.
And, conversely, knowing His name and even preaching in His name =/= knowing Him.
I’m sure someone else can explain this better and possibly ad scripture. When Jesus was alive on earth the people were either pagans (worshipped false gods) or they were Jews. The Jews (in the Old Testament) had been taught about a meshia for many years, probably centuries. To most jews Jesus was just another prophet of many.
If you get the chance watch The Chosen. If you can’t find it I can share a free streaming site. I think some on YouTube free. It’s about three seasons. It’s the best show I’ve watched about Jesus on earth. They talk in the slang of today and it’s easier to understand. Also search your question on YouTube. There’s good videos explaining scripture.
At times I believe the slang is a little much however I believe for the younger generations to understand and accept Jesus as their savior using slang might not be bad. When I read King James Version I’m lost and I have watched British historical dramas and non historical for twenty years. I understand them and know the slang of Britian. My husband can’t understand them.
