Actually, the studies proclaiming meat to be bad use surveys to ask participants what they eat. Pizza with meat toppings are considered as meat and usually the meat eaters are consuming crap like Diet Coke as well as a bit of meat.
Same with Diet Pepsi. I gave it up for Lent and it's been rough. I gave up sweets too and oddly enough I haven't craved them like I crave the Pepsi. I think it's the Diet Pepsi in my normal diet that made me crave sweets. I hope to ditch it permanently.
Good luck! Sugar is addictive---the reason it is in everything. Now they have found other chemicals and lab made sweeteners that are more addictive than sugar! If you look at Coca Cola made in Mexico, it is made with sugar like ours used to be but now ours are made with a chemical sweetener or Corn Syrup. Soft drinks of all kinds are unhealthy.
